  2. Coulee?
  3. If you must get a V6 ( :ack: ), get a 3.4 out of a Camaro.
  4. It could also be a cracked sender, or the rubber stopper on the end of the return line is falling apart, causing the whole sender to vibrate with the pump... which can cause the hard lines to crack. Chances are it's just the pump, but there's another reason to tackle is ASAP.
  5. Do a compression test to see if you may have a blown head gasket.
  6. Yup, but it might drop it down about an inch.
  7. He has an 88, which is Renix. Renix manifolds are not the same as the 91-98 HO ones.
  8. You don't need a newer 4.0 for the AX-15, you can put one in behind your current engine.
  9. It's somewhat involved to get an HO intake to work on a Renix motor, and the intake ports won't quite line up right... so what you'd gain from the actual manifold, you'd probably lose at the gasket.
  10. Yes, EGR. You can easily bypass it by plugging the holes on the manifolds, and disabling the EGR valve. They got rid of the EGR in 91 with the HO system anyway.
  11. Got everything off to get the trans out, but the lack of a smooth surface and good jack is going to make me pull the T-case off it first. :fs1:
  12. i was thinking more about the control arms that would be getting alot closer to the pan, last time i checked theres not a whole lot of room under there with a 4.0L Definitely something to worry about, my stock height 88 XJ with a 4.0 had about 3/4 of the bottom coil on the right side break off, and I believe that's what caused the right UCA to smack the oil pan, bend the hell out of the lip, and give me a huge oil leak.
  13. It would be cheaper to find an axle with the ratio you want than to install different gears. It's also usually not a good idea to install used gears in a different axle.

    :hmm:
  15. Actually a good chance for 4.56:1. 4.10 is certainly a possibility. Best way to check would be to pop the cover.
  16. Hahahaha, my stock-height Comanche gave me plenty of fits just getting the oil pan off. Mine gave me such an issue that I almost completely disconnected the axle just to get the pan off.
  17. I was able to get mine out fairly easily by having someone turn the motor over by hand while I tapped on it. Just make sure you're both going the same way, and spin the motor over a few times with you not under the truck to make sure you won't get squirted on.
  18. I was thinking maybe something similar to that. I can give that a try, the plan tomorrow is to drop the pan, and get the pistons out so I have access to the entire cylinder. There is no way in hell it's even close to .005. If I reuse this block, it will be bored out. I'm just trying to figure out if it's even too deep to bore out. I'm still looking for a different block, in case it's not worth it to use my current one, and it'll be a few days before this one comes out anyway. Trans will probably be coming out Sunday. Ridge isn't really the issue, I'm sure a bore would take care of that. My main concern is the giant vertical gouge.
  19. Nope. Beaterjeep's 2.5 was lowered about 2 inches by putting ZJ rear coils in.
  20. That is an option, it'll be a pain to take out, but it needs to come out anyway, just a bit of a drive to the only shop I've found that does it.
  21. How does the fan have anything to do with the resistor? I would think it'd be more like a short somewhere, either in the pump or the wiring to the pump.
  22. This is the big one you can feel in one spot These ones you can't feel
  23. I can feel it with my finger through a rag, and I can definitely get my fingernail in it. The spring caliper might work, but I'm a little confused as to how you actually get a reading off of it. This might work, eh? http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... 8gIwBzgA#p
  24. Drain oil and coolant, unbolt everything, attach engine hoist, pull forward and up. Much easier with the radiator out, which is very easy in a 2.5. When are you pulling it?
  25. I need a good 2.5 block for my 91 MJ. AFAIK, pretty much any year will work. I just need the bare block. I don't have a lot of money, but if you're parting out a 2.5 with a good block, I can trade you my block for scrap. I'll take a whole motor if you just need it gone though :brows:
