  1. What?
  2. Do you want what it is now, or what it was from the factory?
  3.
  4. New parts I have for it now: Got everything off the head today, so it's ready to be pulled in the morning. Rockers look good at least.
  5. Several years ago I got my 1991 2.5, 2wd AX-4 3.55 geared D35. It was nice. Unfortunately, I did not find CC right away, and I didn't really know that much, and it kinda went south. Day I got it: Bed kinda rusted out, it began to need a ton of little things, although I still drove it until it started running weird, and then the rear axle crapped out on me. It's since gotten a better bed, although that still needs a little work... but she's finally getting the attention she needs. Sat over here for about a year Recently I got it over to the concrete pad to get worked on. Took me two days to get oil pressure in the motor just so it could drive itself to where it needed to be. I have a laundry list of what it needs, but mainly I need to get: Rear axle replaced Massive brake work Bed removed and broken bolts taken out of it Whatever's going on with the motor fixed Gonna do main and rod bearings Drain and replace ALL fluids. Replace nearly the entire exhaust Get my new water pump and radiator it in, possibly new hoses Figure out the vacuum line mess Get the windshield replaced After that it should at least be inspectable. I haven't decided if the 3.55 8.25 will go in right away to keep it 4wd, or if the 4.10 one will go in and just worry about the front axle after it's driving.
  6. Pulled the "radiator" out the other day, today pulled off the manifolds, and all the brackets on the head, as well as the valve cover so I can pull the head first thing tomorrow. At least the top of the head is nice and clean, no sludge whatsoever, just gotta hope it's that nice when I pull the head. The finger loose VC bolts and RTVless gasket might explain all the oil everywhere... "radiator"
  7. They're all the same thread, but not all the same length. I could easily pull one out of my 2.5 for ya, but I have no way of checking thread.
  8. Two other somewhat common places for a bad oil leak are the oil filter adapter O-rings, and there's a possibility your passenger UCA smacked the oil pan. Check the lip of the pan around the hump for the oil pump.
  9. I meant the Torx bolts. Every one of those I've removed have gone straight into the scrap pile.
  10. You put those ^$%*ing pieces of total @^$ *&$@ing ($ back in??
  11. It's pretty much impossible to pull the cover with the axle in the truck and not lose all the fluid. Pulling the cover is no big deal. It's not some magical expensive seal to put it back on. It's RTV. Just pull the cover and verify what the ratio is . Sending the VIN to Chrysler doesn't mean squat. Assuming it's a ratio because of motor/trans is also never for-sure, as any PO could have easily regeared or put different axles in.
  12. Just cause it's a 4 popper, doesn't mean it's going to for sure get better mileage. Especially with an auto behind it. My 88 XJ with a 4.0 and auto at one point was getting 26 mpg. Most I'd ever pulled out of my 4 popper/stick was 23, but it usually averaged 20-21. If you prefer an auto, I wouldn't turn away a 4.0 if it's running good. For a stick, you might get better luck out of the 4 popper.. but you might not.
  13. The 88 XJ needs just as much, if not more, work to get it drivable and inspect able in the great state of Missouri. I don't need another XJ moving at this point, and I think it's worth more to part it out than to try to sell it for $100. I honestly have no idea what kind the seats are, but they're probably rocker.
  14. Pull the cover and check the stamp on the ring gear.
  15. Are you using a proper Torx socket?
  16. Even in power mode, it shouldn't stay in 2nd that long unless you're pulling a load with the pedal at the floor. My 88 XJ did that... turned out to be the TPS out of adjustment.
  17. Am I the only one who likes the stock look of the tucked in rear wheels and rake?
  18. I might be persuaded to start scrapping the 88 early if you need something.
  19. Do you have the high altitude CPS?
  20. Send the wheels in to a re-tread plant.
  21. Funny how the forum stops working properly after an "update".
  22. Easiest fix: fix the leak in the line as mentioned. Best fix: Swap in an AX-15. :brows:
  23. Kinda pointless if you plan on picking it up again. Same for when I hear people say "I quit smoking for 6 months". Well, then you didn't quit, did you?
