  1. Every D35 I've seen had the flat bottom on the diff.
  2. Well...unfortunatly I don't need anything from an 89/auto...I need an XJ/MJ Ax-15, as well as a complete HO wiring harness.
  3. UH...yeah, definitly was NOT me.
  4. He said the rear axle in the donor is toast
  5. Take a picture of the differential, and we can tell you.
  6. My brother's 98 XJ does.
  7. 600 bucks for entire donor vehicle, not too bad as long as everything works. However Being as your truck is a 4 speed, chances are you have 3.55 gearing in your rear end. The donor, being a 4cyl 5 speed, is going to have 4.10 gearing in the pumpkins. *No guarantees that is completely true, but it's basically standard. Therefore, you'd have to get a rear end with 4.10 to match the front axle. For my swap, since my truck was also a 2.5 4 speed, I had 3.55 in the rear. I was lucky enough to get a front end with 3.55 off of a 94 Cherokee. If you can make him a decent off on the trans and linkages, go for it, but because of the gearing problem I wouldn't get the whole truck.
  8. Forgot to mention that I've got a complete clutch kit to throw in it too. New ball joints, clutch kit, slave cylinder, and probably both new rear d-shaft u joints and I might as well do the wheel joints too when I do the ball joints. She better drive pretty nice. And if that trans does give me problems and I have to back to 2wd...at least the new clutch will be in there? And it will stay external too. @#$% internal slaves
  9. Yeah, if you're ever down in the Madison area that would be cool. You said you parted out an XJ? What year/motor/trans? I may be interested in parts.
  10. I had a J-truck....ended up junking it cause noone would buy it. Now everyone wants one.
  11. Not too shabby for $200. Hopefully you can get that rust under control. What area of Wisconsin are you from?
  12. Yeah that seems about right
  13. Are you going from a 4 cyl to the 4.0? Cause if you are, you're gonna need the coil springs from the donor. The 4.0 on 2.5 springs would just drag it down. I have 4.0 springs on my 2.5 and it lifted it a goo 1.5-2 inches.
  14. Well, if I took this route instead of my regular one, I could just prolly drop them off at your place. $150 for the axle, trans and 4wd shift linkages sound good? The truck did shake when I junked it, although I never tracked down the source. And the trans worked good, although once in awhile it would pop out of 1st if you didn't hold it in. So no big deal on that. T-case worked perfectly. 207k on all of it.
  15. I'm not entirely sure how the bypass works, but if you have to pull a vacuum hose to get it to engage, then just leave the hose off all the time, and cap the actuator so nothing gets in there. When you put it into 2wd in the cab, the transfer case will disengage from the front axle, then you have nothing to worry about. And yes, having the axle itself engaged all the time will be fine. All that's there for is to slightly reduce rotating mass while driving in 2wd. Seems like just one more thing to break to me.
  16. Just so you know, when you put the truck into 4 low, the gears in the axles don't change. There's a reduction unit in the transfer case, which is mounted to the back of the transmission. Gearing in your axles is one ratio, all the time. So, essentially, the reduction will go to the back, and to the front equally, as for your not being in 4wd, that does sound like the axle disconnect is not engaging. Like you said in your other post, once you get the vacuum problem fixed, you should be fine.
  17. Welcome to the club! Make sure you get your stickers from Pete :brows: I would have tried to fix your pump before getting a new one. My 88 XJ leaked a little and whined very loud, and also got to needing to be revved above 2k to work. So I spent the 8 bucks on the Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak, and I poured it in(while running) and instantly the whine went away, and I could turn the wheel with one finger at idle. Stopped leaking too. For the 4x4, I think you can bypass the switch, so that the axle disconnect is always engaged. They ended up just doing away with that setup anyway. I have a D30 from a 94 XJ on my truck and it doesnt even have the Disconnect.
  18. The air in the gas door is Fecking AWESOME! Nice job! If I ever come across a dead MJ with a good bed I'd like to do something like that.
  19. Nope. The output shafts on 2wd and 4wd transmissions are different. A 2wd Transmission has the worm gear on it for the speedo on the OUtput shaft, whereas the 4wd one has them in the transfer case Output. I believe spline counts are also different, and lengths. Sorry but it's just not possible without swapping in a 4wd Output shaft, which you may as well rebuild since that would require dismantling the entire transmission. But after all that trouble, you're better off using the 4wd one.
  20. If you have the 4.0 litre (6cyl) I have almost everything you need for the swap. I scrapped an 88 4.0 4x4 5 speed Cherokee last year and I have the front Axle, 4wd 5 speed transmission with Transfer case. All you'd need is the driveshafts and to hook up the vacuum system for the axle. Or bypass it. And if you're near the twin cities, I'll be coming up there from WI over thanksgiving, we could meet up and I could deliver. Lemme know how much you have to spend.
  21. That's a very shiny rear door handle for a Comanche...lol
  22. You should be running about 31 psi when idling. I've never pushed the pin without a tester on it, but I would assume it would be more. your best bet would be to put a fuel pressure tester on it and see what you're running at. When my fuel pump died last year it still ran...but was at about 14psi.
  23. I'm having that same problem It didnt start right away, but after I got that 94 D30 on my truck, now it's making a clicking sound when I turn to the left. I know the pass wheel bearing has some play, but I could also blame it on that the CA hardware I used is slightly smaller than stock. (Stock was metric, I used SAE grade 8 bolts) So I'm gonna pop the original hardware back in and see if it works. Otherwise hopefully it'll go away when I change the bearing. There's no play in the axleshafts or joints, so I don't think it's that. So I can't use a bearing from my 88 D30 on my 94? Well $#!&.
  24. Ax-5 for the manual.
