  1. Oh, just about everything else. Your easiest options would be a Chrystler 8.25", preferably 29 spline, a Dana 44, or Ford 8.8".
  2. Just search for an XJ snorkle. Should be quite a few out there.
  3. Because the TCU is stupid. Mine does that too. Also, 1st and 2nd are the same position, 3rd it will stay in 3rd, and D will be all the gears. Does it shift fine in D?
  4. Did you check the bulbs?
  5. Nothing like a $500 bell for a $100 tranny that probably won't last...
  6. I have been told it will not. Never tried though.
  7. Speaking of which... did mine ever get sent out?
  8. Sounds like someone needs a 5 speed conversion.

I've towed 4 vehicles, and pulled a 6500lb van onto a trailer with my 3.07 D35 on 235/75/R15s and she's yet to break. Some day... :driving:
  10. I believe I've seen that pic before. Mine's a freakin mess. I'm gonna try to clean it up as best as possible before I paint, but yeah I planned on a few coats. At least get one on to start with before the landlords see all the new mess I put on this weekend.
  11. I'd run it through a toggle so it wasn't running while I was driving, but if you can make a clean way to install it, it'd make a nice DIY.
  12. It's a good idea in some ways, until it gets to the point that government will force everyone to do it. Hell, my XJ is getting better mileage than most of the foreign SUVs are advertising.
  13. I STRONGLY recommend taking the front Driveshaft off until you figure out what's going on. This will prevent anything from breaking.
  14. Funny, I was able to thread a standard nut onto it.... Who knows though. Some may be metric, some standard. Gotta love Jeep.
  15. There is... JY XJ.
  16. I hope you mean AX-15. The AX-5 would grenade behind a 350 in about 5 minutes.
  17. No radio at all from the factory?
  18. Having the CAD not dis-engage cannot make you stuck in 4wd. The only problem a bad vacuum system can cause is not allowing you to go into 4wd. If you can't get out, it's a T-case or linkage problem. I would check the fluid. When mine was running low it wouldn't go out of 4wd. There's a plate to force it into 4wd when you pull the handle, but just a spring to push the fork out of 4wd. If it's not lubed up enough, the spring won't be able to kick it back.
  19. I appreciate it  Didn't say the WI road system isn't faultless, but the last two times I drove through IL, I felt violated by the toll booths, especially the road that deliberately made me miss my turn just so I'd hit the $1.90 booth.
  20. That was a fun thread. :rotf:
  21. It's usually just a good idea to replace the whole distributor. They're not that expensive, and then you've got a new dis. I read over instructions for replacing the CMPS. Didn't look fun. Why, specifically, does it need to be replaced?
  22. I gotta see this thing. We'll see how she compares to my '88 ;) :rotfl2: I like your 88. It's a nice truck. But Wade's blows yours out of the water.
  23. I'm not planning any trips, I refuse to drive in IL pretty much unless my life depends on it. I hate your road system. Rob said he would try to get up here when I strip out the next XJ though in a few weeks. If you've got some of that stuff that would be awesome.
  24. Since the weather's warm now I really should seal the carport since I have a habit of dropping oil on it. This seems like a pretty good deal and probably exactly what I'm looking for. http://www.bicwarehouse.com/expoxy-seal ... 21001.html I'd probably do 2 coats just to be sure. Anyone used that brand, or suggestions for something better I should use?
  25. All 86s are longbeds  I'd say if it runs and moves, get it. The body could easily be worth $500. You could spruce it up, title it, and probably sell it for a profit. Then you can get your shortbed.
