Eh, I wouldn't base anything off of that. People out there seem to get a lot of bogus information about these things, and stick with it. I remember awhile ago someone on ebay was asking an arm and a leg for an 88 because it was 'the last year they made them'. Several people on here messaged him informing him he was wrong, but he didn't believe us. Only the longbed was available in 86, but since it's a 4.0, it's not an 86 unless someone swapped it in.

Why are you so skeptical it's a shortbed? Do you know what year it is? You should be able to get well over $300 parting it out.

You can grab a center console out of any 84-96 XJ or 86-92 MJ. There's no difference between manual or automatic, 2wd or 4wd. The 2wd consoles just have a little coin holder that pops out and the 4wd shifter bezel will go into. Manuals just have the shift boot, and autos will have the plate with P R N D 3 1-2

Did you fill the converter back up before putting it on?

So you didn't let any fluid out of the tranny at all? Did you leave the converter in the bellhousing, or did you pull it out with the motor?

Did you remember to bolt the converter to the flexplate?

I buried the speedo on my 2.5 the day I bought it, AX-4, 3.55 gears. But then again, mine's MPFI

You may also consider an MPFI conversion down the road.

I know what's wrong with it. His 4.0 is missing two cylinders.

Done it a couple times, not fun at all. Easy as freaking pie on a stand. 4cyls aren't bad.

How big of a lift? About an inch you shouldn't need anything other than a toe alignment and to re-center your steering wheel.

4.0 Throttle body upgrade only works on 91+ 2.5s, from a 91+ HO 4.0. Up to 90 is throttle body injected, all 4.0s are MPFI.

I think he's referring to his 91. It could be a dying sender, or a frayed wire losing power on its way to the speedo.

I thought the last year for the 258 in the YJ was 90? IIRC in 91 it got the 4.0 HO. I have a friend with a 95 YJ and I'm pretty sure she's got a 4.0 HO.

His 8.25 is a 29 spline, so it'll be close in strength to a 44. Regearing generally isn't cheap unless you know someone who can do it for free/know how to do it.

I'm baaaaack. Guy came and installed a new modem, and we even got a new dish too. It seems to be behaving better as well.. Brent, you lucky bastage. Once I start buying MJs down here hopefully they'll be more like that..
