Switching From Renix to OBD11 ~Staying RENIX~
Drahcir495 replied to Drahcir495's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm happy, so happy. I was talking with the shop owner and we agreed to keep it simple - staying Renix \ -
Headed down to the Jeep to do some work on it. I had some new LED headlights to put in. I went with the same ones I used in the XJ. I love them -> They are labeled DOT SAE on the lenses -> I already had the upgraded headlight harness in and it was ready for the new lights -> All done ->

You know I realized I was on page 7 only after I posted lol. I just like going through the builds and I forget where I am in the time line

1989 pioneer. Blue exterior and interior. LWB 4x4. I think the metric ton package, but not certain. Originally Renix 4.0, BA10 transmission, NP231 transfer case, D30 front and factory D44 rear. Full gauge cluster, bench seat and sliding rear window. Possibly factory amber fog lights?

Congratulations - very nice looking Truck -
I out grew my 26” craftsman tool box, so for Father’s Day I was given a card with money to get a new one. I ended up going with the 52” Home Depot Husky combo. Anything over $1000 you get free delivery. So glad I had it delivered to the old place. It is stupid heavy even though it was empty. I had to jack each end up to get the wheels on. Then I had two friends help to get the top box up and on. Still working on figuring out what drawers will hold each tools ->

Looking good -
Read that wrong. That is good to know Pete A friend just sent me a picture I’ve never seen from 2010. I was picking up a kayak near him in Georgia. It was my first journey out with the Jeep->

Great job on the paint! I don’t know if the factory paint went through into the door jams and behind the cab, but great attention to details.

Now what should I use to attach them on to the old housings?? -
Got these bueats in last week -> I started to remove the old lenses from the housings. The first one I did did not go as well as the second one. I ended up breaking some small sections of the black plastic.-> The lenses didn’t fair to well either -> I will try and repair the damage with some JB weld in the morning. I’m not sure this will be noticeable with the lense on or not anyway? Other than that they came off quickly->

I plan on doing a lot with my son and the Comanche. I have wheeling and camping in the works for us. The topper may be our substitute tent if I can fit a blow up mattress between the wheel well humps? I will be measuring that up the next time I’m at the mechanics. I just found out that, with the new digital thermometer, I actually enjoy grilling out! I was hoping to get a small bbq grill to bring with us on the camp outs. I was at Jeeptoberfest a few years ago and saw a guy tailgating with a hitch mounted grill. I completely forgot about that until I was just going through my old pictures. Though it’s not the exact brand, I was able to track one down from Hitchfire - https://hitchfire.com/products/f-20 They had them on Amazon, but they were having a 20% off a drivers side swing out grill on their site. Now that I don’t have to answer to anyone, I pulled the trigger on it! Haven’t unboxed it yet, but it is the coolest non essential accessory I can attach to the MJ -> I also ordered their grill cover. It was $58 shipped to me , but I knew it would be a perfect fit. It wasn’t worth it to me to try to find one that might be a close fit, or impose on my tent buddy to make one. Got it unpacked It is well built, so I’m pretty happy 10/9/24 Hitchfire has a 5 lb propain tank with a cover for their growler tank -> It’s $100 on the web site but they sent me one for free! No heads up or reason, but it was a great surprise. I had to get the splitter line to get it to work, but it was cheaper on Amazon than theirs.

And imagine how much more they would cost. That’s a partner you want there for you

😂great points! Problem fixed . I’ve just moved back from my dream property to keep my Jeeps. That was just the tipping point really. At least I get to keep half my stuff! The Jeeps aren’t worth anything on paper, so the “unreliable junk” is all mine.
