"Dump Humper" 89 Comanche rebuild
GreenF350 replied to JENSSEN's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Great work. No one around here will question why you are putting all that work into that truck....we all have the same problem  Keep it up, the pics look good. -
Looks like you get to start a thread in the "projects" section soon. Very cool.

Frame Rot...how long can I go
GreenF350 replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I cut out my bad spots and welded in new patches. Once it was ground down it almost looked like it was never touched. Problem was though, the more I poked around, the more spots I found. Frame rot is what led me to pull the truck off the road for a year, get a new bed, and paint the whole thing. Very common problem for north east comanches. Makes me wonder how many were junked for this reason. -
PM sent if still available.....thanks :D

$25 is fine, let us know when and how to pay.... :D

Everything Ive had has been some sort of project, but the 1st was a 71 340 Plymouth Duster. Hemi orange with a black gut and 340 stripe, wing, etc. It was basically a 30 over 340, heads cam intake etc. with a 6pt cage. Made for a Badass high school car. Since then Ive fallen into 5.0 mustangs, and am on my 11 or 12th ( i think ) Ive also had a few diesel trucks, but for some reason, I keep going back to my $600 jeep

I have to have one to, HAVE TO!!

Thanks for the replys. The seller, however, is now not answering the phone, and the add for the jeep has since been taken down, so I think I know what that means. Too bad too, because this is the second MJ in 2 weeks Ive missed by a day before I could check it out. I really want another MJ :fs1:

So this weekend I'm going to look at another 91 MJ. Over the phone, I was told it makes a slight "ticking" sound, and that he was told it was possibly the flywheel. I'm guessing a small crack could cause this, but I wanted to ask if there were any other obvious things to check. I know its hard to diagnose without me actually seeing the truck 1st, but hey, u never know. Either way, Ill update once I look it over. 4.0, auto, 4x4 etc....

Truth.

When I spot Comanches on the road, I always try to see if the driver is an "enthusiast" or just someone who's car happens to be a Comanche. For the most part, its basic transportation for most I see. Hopefully the new owner falls under the other category and keeps the truck alive.

Make sure you take the boat across the sound, I95 will make u want to kill yourself. Looks like a good deal.... there's some $$ tied up in that jeep.

First "legal" drive in over a year. Got it registered today and wow, my brakes suck. Its good to be back driving a Comanche again. Oh, and in the few hours its been registered, its already consumed almost $100 in gas,oil change, coolant, alignment etc. Good to be back.

I went through the truck and finished up alot of little things. The flares and gate are next, but that won't stop me from driving it the way it is. It looks good but its far from perfect....but again, I'm fine with it. Now to get plates from the DMV.....
-
Theres a jeep place in Foster? I drive through there twice a week during work ( rt.6 ) and will be through there tommarow. Time to look this place up.
-
Your ability to find MJ's on a daily basis amazes me. Looks good, nice find.
-
Just a freshening up. I got all new speakers and a sub, new woodgrain pieces from an XJ, and I plan to replace every little cracked or dis-colored part. I still have to paint and install the tailgate, flares and all the little stuff. Its almost a year since I started this!!

Headed to a local swap meet at 4am. I think i just got myself some more sleep!!

Couple quick pics. The truck is not done yet. It needs the interior and alot of little things, but last night I had to stripe one side to see what it would look like. Anyways, here it is......

I have off on Friday, so i have no excuse not to be here. Unless I'm getting drunk somewhere, but that can wait till after  This did make me think of something though. Every time I visit, i see the picture of the 04' Comanche Club Pow-wow on the main page and think how it would be cool to have another one, now that the site is bigger. I know too many of us are too busy, myself included, but its always a cool thought. I guess we can do it via the internet tomorrow though.
