Alexia's 1987 To 1997 Comanche
Alexia replied to Alexia's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
They are 5.5" Rubicon Express coil springs. With the 2WD leaf packs and a D44 axle it put the rear at 5.5" as well. 4WD leaf packs are thicker and will result in more lift. Yes, 5.5" of lift before the tires. -

I am not using the stock tank! If you look carefully below the stock tank is the block 1997 XJ gas tank sitting on the floor. I have it hooked in with a hose for engine testing. I do plan to mount the XJ gas tank in the spare location since the larger spare tire will not fit nicely back there anyway. Yes, stock rear 2WD springs with spring over axle. -
I recognized those rims and then the saw the sticker and the front lip! Is it a Street Comanche or just one with aftermarket Archer parts?

There is a bulb socket towards the right side it on the back of the face. For 1996 and down take out the four screws that hold the dash trim and carefully pop it off around the HVAC controls. Then unscrew the HVAC controls to get to the bulb.

Passenger kick panel. Properly called the junction block in the FSM.

I found it! I decided to clean up since I was blocked on that. So I started digging all the trash out of the bed, made a few bags, moved the trash can, JACK POT! I had tossed it in the bed instead of in the house since it was covered in dirty grease. -

Thanks! In today's edition of "What did Alexia screw up?" I can not find half of the steering shaft. Not the whole thing, just HALF of it. -
Anyone that has the extra disposable cash to buy a built up Comanche is going to see a well used, to them an abused, rig. NADA Guides lists the average used retail at $6,000 assuming the vehicle is in good looking condition. Take off one to two thousand for appearance and then add in two to three thousand for aftermarket leaving it around $7,500. It will still be a long wait selling at that price.

http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Electrical/1997_UP_Fuse_Identification.htm Check the 10 amp fuse #16 to see if it is damaged. Maybe just replace it for the purpose of diagnostics. Also replace Fuse #12 for the instrument cluster at the same time. I have seen issues where bad units on one of those circuits causes issues for the other circuit. As for illumination inside the radio the FSM will not have anything since the radio is considered a sealed unserviceable unit. The bulb or LED in there will be replaceable. It is just how crazy you want to get ripping the radio apart to do it and if it requires soldering to replace.

What I mean is that the light fixture would clip itself to the head liner and stay there with out the need for bolts. The shape of the head liner would hold the minimal weight of the fixture up.

I want a nice big shop like you have. It sucks working in one car of space!

Yep! It even tried to roll into the garage door! 0° Rake Installed the drive shaft I bought from Zebvance. I only replaced one bad u-joint. Thanks again for the great deal! Riddler D44 Differential Cover - No fancy paint, just black. -

Rear Axle Installed (As of last week.) Rubicon Express Extended Bump Stops Spidertrax 5x4.5 to 5x5 Wheel Adapters Then... THE WHEELS! I think this seals the deal for wanting to do matte black paint with these wheels. -
Pete sent me a copy and it looks freaking amazing! I have it pressed under some books to flatten it back out before I mount it. It shifting during shipping causing it to scrunch up oddly in the square tube, but there were no creases.

My mother keeps her Grand Wagoneer parked most of the time now. It only has about 100,000 miles on it.

I am back to JK wheels, not the JK wheels. :D Your Comanche should already have all the mounting equipment. The bottom of the radiator has two pins that slip into the front cross member. There are supposed to be two rubber isolators that go around those pins. The top of the radiator uses two of these isolators which slip into holes in the radiator support brace. -

Thanks! I actually put an order in with Quadratec for them. Advance Auto's web site claims to have them, but they can not find them on the shelves. -
Get the dome light out of a Cherokee. They are already wired to work with a door switch and headlight switch setup. Depending on the year some of them have the clips setup so they clip on to the head liner and do not require bolting to the roof.

The local junkyard lists a bunch of "Jeep Cherokee" for stock. The troll there is they are actually all Grand Cherokee models with rear disc brakes! -

Number one rule of any rebuild. NEVER EVER EVER EVER throw ANYTHING away!(Yep, I blew it.) I am sitting here with each rear brake half assembled since I am missing the wheel cylinder push rods and a couple springs. Neither of which parts can seem to be bought aftermarket. About to go out to the garage and dig through my giant metal recycling bin with some heavy duty gloves to see if I can find those tiny parts in there.
