Rockkrawler @$%&*@!!

We just put on the new Rockkrawler servere duty track bar last night. After we got the axle centered under the MJ we have 3/4" of threads showing past the jam nut, they say not to have more then 1/2" of threads showing.

 

I call today and they told me that I was using trying to use a XJ track bar for the MJ then told me to re-drill the lower track bar mounting hole over a little and mount it back in :headpop: :headpop:

 

Anoyne else use a rockkrawler track bar, and if so did you have any problems???

 

Also anyone make the trackber hole larger without having problems :nuts:

Were you able to go over enough to have all good metal to drill, or did you end up with an oval hole??

 

i would not drill an oval hole! that is going to cause sever deathwobble having all that room to move around

 

I redrilled my axle when i first lifted my truck almost an inch over. that was with my 2wd axle

 

i have the same issue with my trackbar now (rustys) I plan on trying out that trackbar relocation where it goes on top of the axle instead of under it.

I personally would be upset that it was like that. redrilling the trackbar isn't the way to fix it. if the trackbar was the right length then it should be fine. I would send it back and find another supplier if they won't send you a longer one.

that is messed up in my opinion.

I had to drill out the hole to fit the 14mm (9/16") bolt. Only talking 1/4" more threads then they say to have, going to try to split the difference and see how much the axle is out with 5/8" of threads showing :roll: 1/8" is about 2-3 threads more exposed :roll:

I have this track bar on my truck and i am at 6" of lift or so the only thing that I had to do is redrill the whole at the axle for the bolt to fit. Here is a dumb question do you have the truck setting on jack stand or is the truck supporting its own weight. I had these issue when I had the truck jack up but when the truck was setting on it own weight I was able to get it to fit just right.

Yes, I did it on my XJ after 2,5 OME lift.

 

Drilled/grinded new holes on both sides, made and put in two “offset washers”

 

Work perfect with the stock track bar.

But seriously, the offset washer seems cool, but the real solution is providing the correct trackbar. If it is bolt in there should be no need to drill new holes. is it that hard for them to have the right length for 6 inch lift? especially when you paid 200 dollars ish.

 

6 inches is common.

I have bought several things from RK direct no probs, but they have some people there that are not very qualified and do not have any customer skills. but thats just some.. I have not had any issues with their products and most of time I get good folks on the phone, so if someone made the statement

"XJ track bar for the MJ" well then you got one of the people there that should not be answering the phones and yes I have gotten that idiot myself once or twice. but is does sound like you got the wrong track bar for you lift.

I redrilled my trackbar bracket 3/4" over on my '95 XJ and had no problems. It also allowed me to have 7" of additional droop without binding. I welded a washer on the outside and moved the hole down about 1/8". It worked great and allowed me to run my adjustable trackbar with only one tread showing.

 

I was not told to do this. I did it because my trackbar was limiting my droop.

Problem fixed, it was how I was checking :oops: checked a different way and it was OK :oops: :oops:

 

You have to drill the hole out to 9/16" as they use a 14mm bolt over the old size.

 

 

Yes, the guy that answered the phone was not to smart :roll: But I will have to say that it's built very well :cheers:

Having to drill for a larger bolt is no biggie, as bolts go, bigger is stronger.

 

But drilling a second hole is done because the TB is not correct length. Your correct in assuming this is NOT A GOOD thing if your doing it for an ADJ TB!!! Why the F$%K have an adj TB if you just gonna drill another hole to adjust the axle position??? These companies who throw people on the phones with out the proper knowledge of there product lines and PROPER application SUCK!!!

 

Sorry for the rant, but this crap form manufacturers gets to me. Manufacturers using US for their R&D is wrong!! Guys buy reputable/proven stuff and these kinds of problems are NON existent!! Customer service is tantamount to an overall good product. Yahoos on the phone "helping" customers with problems, further reinforces my point about buying quality.

 

Some months back we went round and round comparing and deliberating this TB with the RE and the Kevin's conversion. They are all similar in design. RE has proven to be a weaker bar. Now this kind of problems with the RK stuff... The Kevin's stuff is made from a factory bracket and JKS bars, converted to WJ style bushing. Both KNOWN to work and work well for the long term.

 

Glad you got it to work. I sincerely hope you have no more problems with it.
