aussiebob
I'm every now and then having my engine shut off under braking then no problem restarting, its the amazing 88 4.0L power plant and auto trans, any thoughts?.
Ωhm
Distributor cap, rotor, plug wires and spark plugs (entire secondary ignition) are all maintenance items. How do they look?
ThatJeepGuy
Does it sputter out or just shutoff like a switch? Try replicating it and catch any consistency if its not purely random? While engine is running open your hood and wiggle the wire harness groups some here and there?

Eagle_SX4
Have you tried to replicate this will parked? Could be that the ignition wires under dash by the brake pedal get pulled or shorted out when braking.

hgeranium
I'm with eagle on this one. It sounds like the action of pushing on the brake is cutting power somewhere so +1 to checking at and around the pedal.
pizzaman09
Though it doesn't sound like my suggestion, do yourself a favor and check to see if your intake and exhaust header bolts are tight or even all present. It could just be a vacuum leak causing the engine to stumble off.

ghetdjc320
Does it stall when coming to a stop? Not sure if the Renix used the VSS for the eco or not but that’s what would cause stalling on my HO MJ
