89 MJ Posted February 19 Posted February 19 No chance I’d even consider fixing that. Good on you, I’m looking forward to see the progress.
Pete M Posted February 19 Posted February 19 ouch! long or short? got the skills to splice in a whole new rear frame section? I've got a clean rear frame next to the barn.
pizzaman09 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I've helped fix worse. There's lots of satisfaction in welding up bad and replacing it with fresh metal.
ThatJeepGuy Posted February 22 Posted February 22 How dare you share one photo and no context... Looks painfully familiar though, good on you for diving in!

I actually had to take a break from the Jeep for a while because I liked the Blazer at the junkyard so much that I had to go and get one.

It is really cool how Chevy mounted the sway with u bolts to the axle. The Chevy axle tube is slightly smaller than the MJ dana 44 but with just a little bit of clearancing it will bolt right up. It clears my Dana 44. I think this is going to be the new recommendation for a rear sway bar for Comanches. I will also probably use the WJ links to get it mounted properly.
pizzaman09 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago That's super cool, almost makes me want to do that swaybar setup on mine.
Anthi4078 Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago Just something to keep in mind is I’m not sure how well the original exhaust will fit around the sway bar. With mine it’s pretty close and the exhaust hanger is about an inch from the frame. I’m sure you could probably offset the sway bar to the driver’s side some to give you a bit more room. Or maybe with the original frame and whatnot it fits perfectly
Eagle_SX4 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago When I held it up to my axle it was close to the exhaust but it will clear just fine on my long bed. I will need to get a little more creative with the mounting tabs on mine as the links end up in space on the inside of the frame.
