Dana 44 replacement axle shafts
Anthi4078 replied to Anthi4078's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I plan to go to the junkyard this weekend and see if I can find a wrangler to snatch them from. If not I’ll have to end up buying new -
Hey I’m looking for some replacement axle shafts for my D44 as I believe mine are bent. Rockauto says the wrangler until 06 used the same axle shafts. The internet seems to say otherwise. I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience using wrangler D44 axle shafts in a MJ/XJ axle?

Just something to keep in mind is I’m not sure how well the original exhaust will fit around the sway bar. With mine it’s pretty close and the exhaust hanger is about an inch from the frame. I’m sure you could probably offset the sway bar to the driver’s side some to give you a bit more room. Or maybe with the original frame and whatnot it fits perfectly

The sway bar is from a 2000 Chevy Blazer 4 door. The links are rears from a WJ. I actually had to take a break from the Jeep for a while because I liked the Blazer at the junkyard so much that I had to go and get one.

Factory rear wiring routing
Anthi4078 replied to Anthi4078's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ah yeah I just looked under one of my beds that’s not completely rotten and it looks like the harness clips to the underside of the bed rails. Seems stupid to me to attach the wiring to the bed when the only reason you’d have to undo said wiring, is to remove the bed. I guess that’s Jeep quality engineering -
Hey, does anybody know how the wiring harness that comes through the floor and runs to the tail lights is routed from the factory? Every Comanche I’ve seen just has the wires haphazardly tied up. I’d just like to mount them properly but not have them interfere with the gas tank.

Chunk of steel in front of steering gear
Anthi4078 replied to Anthi4078's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ah so it does exist on paper! Mine does have power steering so I guess both types got it. -
I was putting a set of tow hooks on my truck today, and had to pull the steering gear to get access for a couple bolts. In front of the gear up against the core support was a big hunk of steel held down with 1 bolt through the bottom. It wouldn’t fit back in with the new bolts so I just left it out. I can’t find any mention of it anywhere online so I was just curious what the point of it is?

Hey I came across a booklet for dealerships about upselling Comanches on eBay. It has interesting statistics on what models were selling and some option lists and pricing.

Hey has anyone ever modified our stock tachs to work with a V8? I found a thread for a YJ but it was a 95 and I’m not sure how similar our clusters are to those “other” jeeps In that they swapped out a resistor and were able to adjust the Guage to work. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks

Hey everyone. So I was at work today looking at a rear fender liner for a newer dodge pickup, and it’s basically just a big plastic tub. It got me thinking if I could take one from some model of mini truck or something, and do a little trimming to get it to fit decent in the wheel wells. I haven’t looked into if any of the older mini trucks even came with plastic liners yet, but I figured I’d ask on here to see if anyone has done something similar or has any suggestions.

Ohh that reminds me. I have the tire warranty booklet from my truck too. I’ll have to check next time I’m home
-
Hey just curious if anyone knows what tires our trucks came with from the factory?

Oh good idea on the water neck. And I’ll give that a read thank you!!

Hey I’ve been looking at rad options for swapping a SBC into my truck. I know Novak makes a special rad but it’s like almost $1000 CAD I have read that people have used stock style rads. The problem is that the inlet and outlet are on opposite sides on the Chevy vs the Jeep. I’m just curious if anyone has any photos or info on how the hoses worked out if you’ve used a stock style radiator with a Chevy v8. Thanks!

Hey I’m still on the hunt for this. Anyone got anything new lol? Thanks

SBC Transmission Opinions

Yeah no I appreciate your help. I don’t know much about the GM stuff so those transfer case suggestions are awesome. Time to start researching them -

Why do you say that? And what were the two manuals you used? -
SBC Transmission Opinions

Hmm I’ll keep on the look out for one of those. There’s literally none on my marketplace right now lol. I’d like to use a NP242 for the AWD option so I’ll probably have to end up adapting something one way or another -

I want to keep it fuel injected and my grandpa happens to have a smashed up 87 with only 125k km -
Hey I’m going to be swapping the engine in my truck for a tuned port from a C4 corvette eventually. I'm torn between using the 700r4 from the corvette or adapting a AX15 to it. I am a big fan of manuals but I feel like the auto might be a better choice. Just curious your guys opinions or what you’d do if it was you. By the way this is purely a street truck. So off-roading ability doesn’t matter lol. Thanks, Andre

Oh I’ve been looking at the Coopers but I’ll have to look up the BFGs. Thank you!!!
