Carpet

Recommended Posts

I've heard some mixed reviews on the ACC carpet. I got rockauto vinyl flooring now and it fits terribly. Has anyone ever tried pulling carpet out of a Cherokee and cutting it at the center? My first priority is fit and second is sound deadening. Would love to hear peoples input and recommendations. Thanks

Ah ok. The first thing I ever did when my grandfather gave me the jeep was rip the carpet out along with the foam insulation as rats had been inhabiting the cab. The floor pan is completely bare under the vinyl now. Is a layer of dynamat sufficient for sound deadening or is there anything else I can add in addition to make it even quieter?

Maybe ratrapp got mass backing and 89 MJ did not?

There's several options, including Dynamat knockoffs.  There's several spray in options too.  You can also get a roll of foam padding and cut it to fit.  Just don't attach it to the carpet first.

i did get the carpet with the mass backing so maybe that was the problem but i wouldnt swear by it.i did use the amazon siless brand(dynamat knock off) but it greatly reduced cab noise and does a good job of insulating the cab.its literally a 1/3rd of the price of dynamat.

Ok thanks. Any experience with dynamat vs killmat vs amazon basics sound deadening?

Dynamat FTW. The recipe looks simple and easy to duplicate but few get it right. I’ve use Noico, killmat, dynamat and sound skins. Sound skins is top notch, dynamat is as well. Noico and killmat don’t dampen as well. And removing them is absolutely horrific. They will outgas as well when heated up. For something as labor intensive as sound dampening, I’d definitely suggest the “cry once” approach.
