DirtyComanche
Looks like the axle location is about right... The steering going to clear everything? I want to move mine out a little more once I change up my front end again.
88swampedmj
haha the steering isnt gonna work, iam gonna have to do crossover
DirtyComanche
That was sorta a given. With cross-over you won't run into the problems I had (inverted T high-steer). I Had the drag link binding on the tie-rod. Then hitting the leaf spring. It was really sweet. My steering is hack. It's on my 'list'.
88swampedmj
hahaha dang, yea iam goin for crossover..its easy and cheaper now all i need is the pas. knuckle... haha
Oizarod115
just a thought, i saw a construction vehicle parked yesterday and noticed the tie-rod ran BEHIND the tubes. would that be possible on a rig like yours? seems like it'd be nice and protected
88swampedmj
hmm some dana 60s have rear steer... it would be cool i guess but kinda hard on my truck i think
panama red
has to have kingpin knuckles to have tierods behind the axle.
DirtyComanche
has to have kingpin knuckles to have tierods behind the axle. Actually, I think there is a kit to do it with a D44. It can cause a lot more problems than it is worth. If you were to do it, it is advised you design almost the entire front end around that concept... 88swampedmj
i wouldnt do that setup haha, got some more done on the truck today though... finished up the front crossmember Image Not Found Image Not Found a shot with the grill on Image Not Found
Twisty
2" back spacing is massive! It looks great though. I'm tempted to do a leaf swap when I get a new front axle. It looks like a fun project.
