Heath
I'm in the middle of refurbishing the tailgate, and looking for advice on removing these badges without damaging them. I've tried fishing line, but the line keeps braking (maybe I need heavier test, or metal wire...). Are there little studs behind these things, that are inserted into holes in the sheet metal? Thinking of trying heat gun next and gently prying with a putty knife... 2nd, any idea what these 4 little holes are? Zooming in you can see 2 in the indentation above Command-Trac, and follow over to the other side are the other 2. My current thinking is reflectors were there at some point? But seems kind of excessive to have put holes in the metal for that...
89 MJ
Those emblems were just stuck on, no studs. I’d probably try a putty knife first, then apply heat if needed. Those holes should not be there. Could’ve been any number of things, really.

pizzaman09
Adding heat should help, I'd try that along with the puddy knife prying. Just don't overheat the emblem.
Pete M
the emblem is easy to damage and the command tracs are hard to find so go slow and easy.
rokinn
Try using some heat from a heat gun and a guitar string in a sawing fashion.
Big_Mark
I was able to get badges off junk yard Comanches using putty a knife, they came off in one piece. With that said since you have the luxury of doing this at home, definitely apply some heat, that adhesive is strong.
87MJTIM
There was a product Undo (I think) that will allow you to remove stickers and stamps from paper. It doesn’t stain or leave a residue. My wife bought at craft stores. If you can find that, try dripping it on the emblem.
eaglescout526
Come to AZ, let the whole thing bake for about 8 hours and the nameplates should be pliable haha
Spinnakerblue89
Definitely apply heat. And I have a protip: use something like a discarded credit card if you worry about damaging the metal surface or paint in any scenario. I keep old plastic gift cards for this reason alone.
