mbred0609
Got a call from one of my kids friends on Saturday to tell me he found a bench seat at the junkyard. Told me there was a couple other parts I might want as well. Got there to find an 89 with a basically complete interior. Same kid happened to call me Sunday and asked if I was at the yard. I was so he showed up and helped me carry everything out. Got an almost full grey trim set (minus back wall carpet and trim above it). He said he needed to leave so when he helped me get the stuff out (loaded it into the bedliner and set on top of the cart) I still needed to go back for the throttle body. While walking Back I decided to take an alternate route to just look around, and what do I see? An 89 long bed. Dumbfounded that there's 2 here I walk down and lo and behold an untouched navy interior. I spent 8 hours at the jy that day (open to close) and went back Wednesday for the rear bumper, wiring harness, lower dash trim in navy, and a couple odds and ends. JZLAJeep
Not sure if I'm more impressed with your haul or the job you did raising your kids to have good friends!
ThatJeepGuy
How much did they hit you for on the split rear window?

I'll take the raising kids part. Makes me feel like a better human than just having a lucky day. 😎 2 hours ago, ThatJeepGuy said: How much did they hit you for on the split rear window? $20 bucks for each window. So $40 total. Didn't know I was getting windows (I didn't ask enough questions so I wasn't fully prepared) so had to improvise and use a burned hood release cable and a utility knife to get them out. I almost gave up on the second one but pushed through, and it felt so good when I finally got it out.

It was a a day of real luck or grace rather. Very little if anything is planned to be flipped. It is all planned to be used, except a couple spares. First mj I got a few weeks ago was the blue one in the background. Been a bucket list truck for years. In the pics it had everything but when I got there about a week after making the deal the guy had sold stuff off it. Whatever I'm mostly past that now... so now back to a complete blue set for that mj. This mj also needs a rear window. Bought a second mj no title/no engine as a donor. Found the old registration and did a little internet detective work, tracked down the title holder and if my grace holds out I should have a title for that one in the near future. That one just so happens to need grey trim set minus the back carpet and trim above it.(weird how those were the only pieces missing from the jy one but also the only good ones I already had in the donor). If that title comes through which I'm feeling good it will, this mj will be my 12 y.o. daughters Christmas present. Little project for us to get squared away over the next 4 years. So yeah I agree. Great deal and most of the time even greater kids.
pizzaman09
This is awesome! I'd love to find a set of grey bucket seats in that condition for mine as my grey seats, particularly the drivers one is in sad shape. The junk yards around me don't have anything much older than 20 years.

To be fair I haven't done a bunch of JY hopping for the past few years, but definitely didn't expect this.
