dwkgonzales
Hello! I’m looking to purchase my first Jeep Comanche and was looking for help to see if this is a good deal or not! Took it for a test drive, the tires are horrible so I believe that’s why above 30 it was not liking it, it has a oil leak somewhere and a vac hose is loose somewhere but it blows air. Not much rust at all. Any other things I should look at before I make an offer! Thanks for your help!
jdog
What did it do above thirty? How are the floors? That's usually where they rust at. Where was the vacuum line located? What kind of lift? WELCOME
Smokeyyank
5.5k is pretty aggressive for that. Closer to 3 or 4 would be a deal. Rust is the biggest issue to look for rest are all easily fixable jeep things with tools, patience and learning.
dwkgonzales
Thanks for the replies, floor had a bit of rust. Above thirty it was all over the place and steering was super loose. He ended up getting 5000$ for it I was trying to get it for 3750! The hunt continues!
Pete M
there are better ones out there. don't buy one because it have a lift, buy one that runs and drives great... then add your own lift.
75sv1
I think you dodged a bullet. It just looks beat. Also, I wonder about how it was lifted. As mentioned above, don't just look that it is lifted. Look at the quality of the lift. Also, the quality of the build. I have a 2" lifted XJ. It does get some looks. Mainly for the bumpers. But, it does have WJ Big Brakes, cross over steering, OTK trackbar and frame stiffeners. The guy I use to help in my builds, ie welding. Said it was the 10K XJ to his son, last week. I said, I have a bit more than that in it. Still, work to be done. Lift it to 4.5 to 6", then... ??? So, don't look at it as what it is, look at it as is it what you want or get to what you want. pizzaman09
Clean is key. I was looking for a stock height one, which is surprisingly hard to find. Ended up buying one with 250k miles but was super clean save for some holes in the driver's foot well. It needed a significant amount of tune up, but after going through cruisers tips, it runs quite well. If you can find a clean chassis with electricals that aren't super funky and it has the factory options you want, then buy it.
Warren99
Everytime I see a stock height MJ I kinda wish I at least drove mine around for a bit before lifting it. Even though it was the most base model truck you could get for 89, everything was there.
Classy Comanche
I got an all original 1 owner from my grandfather. Definitely shoot for stock ride height. They are tremendous grocery getters [yes I baby mine despite it built to be a work truck] but I got mine for 3k on the penny. If you get one I'd pay 5k at most. And even for that price it should be in almost impeccable condition and or a Olympic edition. But welcome to the group!
