Thanks guys!  Progress doesn't look like much but there has been a lot of hours put in since the last post.  Have been wet sanding the clear coat to make it look like glass.  The results are worth it.

I also was able to get the hood strut kit installed.  My girlfriend isn't tall enough to operate the hood prop so this was a must.  Also pieces together a nice set of hood hardware and got everything put on.

The current project is a bit of madness but it will be worth it to me.  Decided to do bed liner before I buff the paint just in case.  Which spiralled into stripping the entire bed floor and fixing all the dings and dents.  Luckily it doesn't have to be perfect like the exterior panels but it's still a tremendous amount of work.

After many afternoons, the bed floor is finally straight enough.  It's amazing how bad a floor can get but that's 30+ years of abuse I guess.  Here's how it looked in bare metal.

Then we gave it a good coating of epoxy to seal it all in.  Need to do seam sealer and smooth out a few small spots and then it'll be ready for bed liner.

I wonder how you're gonna feel that first time someone casually tosses a cinderblock or whatever in there...

That's what's different about my mindset.  I build things as nice as I can and then use them.  Stuff will happen, it's inevitable.  It's a project inside of a project.  Restore it to stock first, then modify it and use it as if it were a new truck off the dealer lot.

Amazing work!

For painting, has the truck been in the garage and you just put plastic around the truck or did you roll it outside? Both of mine MJs and the wife's XJ need a paint job but not sure how to go about it but following your build gives me hope to attempt it. Try on the XJ first of course .  Keep up the great work.

Thank you!  Everything stays in the garage except I did move the Cherokee outside when I was doing the final paint.  I got a big roll of inexpensive plastic and cover stuff really well.  This is the stuff I got.  It goes a looooong way.  You have to be careful using it as masking plastic though, only one side will let paint stick.  If you use the wrong side you make a huge mess of paint flakes.

Also.  I've been using this a bunch for masking.  Super convenient and inexpensive as well.  Cuts hours off of masking.

Running the risk of seeming like I'm posting the same photos over and over again, lol.  But all the blocking is done finally.  Just needs the untouched spots scuffed down and it's ready for the paint guns to come out.

I hope to one day have your level of skill (and patience)! Paint and body looks and probably is better than factory fresh.

Thank you!  It's not difficult to do better than factory, they left a lot to be desired.

Also, got the bed liner sprayed in finally!  Color matched right on the money.  The hours and hours of straightening the bed were all worth it.  And the raptor liner was awesome to work with.  Sprayed a coat of back epoxy primer first for adhesion and to darken the color.  Did a coverage coat of tinted raptor thinned 15% out of a 1.8 tip in my primer gun, followed by a texture coat at 60 psi and 18ish inches from the supplied gun, and finally a dust coat to even out the texture.  Used every ounce of the one gallon kit.
