my first all-you-can-carry day at a junkyard

I had a blast!  :D  for 75 bucks I got 4 towhooks, 3 skidplates, a Ford Courier tailgate, an xj front fascia and fenders, PT headlight and taillight, 2 radios, a computer, foglights, overhead console, and a bunch more stuff.

but the best part was watching other guys walk the 60ft.  2 had an engine supported by seatbelts and a driveshaft, a couple more had a bedliner absolutely filled with stuff, more than one guy carried 4 tires by himself.  there was no end to the creativity of how to use seatbelts and blown airbags to accomplish the goal of saving money at the possible expense of your back. :D

that's my pile in the back of a golfcart with the airbags on the floor.  took a while to figure out how to arrange it and secure it with ducttape and seatbelts.  I'll take more pics and tally up what all I got tomorrow.

I learned a lot from this experience (like that duct tape doesn't stick directly to airbags, and having a small pad on your shoulders makes a world of difference when the seatbelts are cutting into your sunburn) and if I hadn't found that KJ or I had resisted the tailgate I then would have been able to carry way more plastic things.  next time I will be more prepared. :D

KJ stuff:

full skids/hooks from including rocker guards

evic display

94 XJ stuff:

center console top

gauges

TB

computer

power antenna

ash tray

random knickknacks

fenders

front fascia

PT Cruiser stuff:

2 radios (need one that has a good AUX port and figured why not have 2 shots at it  )

center dash trim

fog light set (lights, trim bits, switch)

headlight

taillight

Ford Courier tailgate

WJ

t-case skid

hooks

I took a sick day from work today, I was having some vision problems this morning.  There was no way in heck I could see myself going to work today.  Anyhow, I ran to the 'yard to grab an oil fill cap for the KJ to pattern a tool I'm going to make to twist mine off.  And I hit junkyard gold.

Got a cap and then spied an MJ.  It is completely hashed, but I did grab the fuel pump/assembly from it if someone here needs it. There is also a 96 Dakota there with a 2.5/AX15 if anyone is interested in the BH.  I'm not going to pull it, but if anyone needs details and wants to come here to get it, I will help.

Then I saw an 04 focus wagon that had brandy new front loaded struts and steering knuckle hubs/bearings.  All of that came home with me, to be swapped out this weekend.:brows:

If anyone wants parts from any of this, let me know. I can/will run back down this weekend.  Not dropping a trans though, lol.

The MJ is hashed, like I said.  I grabbed the fuel pump assembly but there isn't much else to get.  Cab vents are gone.  Interior is hammered, dummy gauge cluster is about the only thing still there.  Both taillights are screwed as is the rear bumper.  Rear slider window, but its fukkered as well.  87 model, 2.5L/AX5, 2WD, D35 rear.  Has A/C, most of the engine bits seem to be in good shape, FWIW.

Were the tail housings screwed too?

yup.  :L:  one of the Gray-and-White yards.  apparently they rotate the party around their 3 yards.  last month was Stockbridge's turn.

Guess I know where I am going on my next GA trip!!

gotta hit the right day somehow.  I got a text about this one ahead of time.  never got one before and never for any of the other 2 yards.  :dunno:

Awesome score for $75!  MJ in the yard was a good find too!

I haven't been to an "all you can carry sale" in years.  The closest was a JY in PA that, at one point, had dollar day.  Every part was $1.  Granted the wheel would be wheel/tire/center cap but still $3 was a steal.
