FlyingXJ Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 So just got my ac recharged only to find it is coming from the defroster. Followed a diagram showing the vacuum line that connects to the ac control only to find it broken and pushed in behind the the firewall. So after checking some more I found out that the dash has to be removed to fix the line that goes through the firewall. So as the title says does Any one have pics, videos or links on how to remove the dash on pre 96 xjs?
FrankTheDog Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Get yourself a factory service manual.
gogmorgo Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 There's a decent write-up in the DIY index. Links to this: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/dash-removal-35444/ It's for doing the process in an XJ, but the only difference with an MJ is the brake pedal release handle is bolted to the lower dash panel, which should be easy enough to figure out on your own.
kook911 Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 I will say the hardest part of the entire job is getting the screws next to the windshield off.

gogmorgo Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Yeah, the screws along the base of the windshield might be an issue for some. I don’t remember it being a problem the first time I did it, but it took some screwing around the second time.
