Aussiemj Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 Hi everyone I want repaint the Mj. So I want pull out the front screen. My Mj has a trim around the windscreen. What windscreen rubber should I use thanks
ghetdjc320 Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 You can switch to the 97+ xj windshield with rubber trim. It’s a simple upgrade that any glass shop (or yourself if your good with glass) can do.

jdog Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 Yep, just don't forget that the windows get glued in
fiatslug87 Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 Do the little pins that hold the clips for the original trim have to be ground down?
Aussiemj Posted August 3, 2021 Author Posted August 3, 2021 I have not remove windscreen yet so trim pins are still there. If I use a 94 +rubber do I reuse the trim. Thanks
fiatslug87 Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 The windscreen is urethaned in, the rubber trim replaces the 5 piece metal trim. My question was to @ghetdjc320about the pins.

My question was to @ghetdjc320about the pins. I’m not sure. I had safelite put mine in and they didn’t have any issues. Took them maybe an hour or so. I can take some pics under the gasket though if it would be helpful.

Parei_doll_ia Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 I put the 94+ rubber in, but I didn't realize that the old channels are deeper. The guy who installed my glass was talking about it while he installed it, he put a larger bead under it so it's less noticeable, but does still look like the trim is somewhat sunken in. There should be enough room with the pins, but a couple of mine had to be removed anyways bc of rust. Have them just remove it one day, fix the rust properly (there more than likely will be rust) then call them to install later.
watchamakalit Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 I have a late model seal in mine. We ground down a few of my pins on each side. Wasn't "necessary" they were just closer to the glass than I was comfortable with. It can be done with out grinding.
