Torq_Shep
I mean its a "rare" vehicle that was extremely powerful but its got a freaking hole in the block... https://m.facebook.com/marketplace/item/459902142080693/?ref=browse_tab&search_query=Cherokee&tracking={"qid"%3A"6925268789824631149"%2C"mf_story_key"%3A"3563515610391519"%2C"commerce_rank_obj"%3A"{\"target_id\"%3A3563515610391519%2C\"target_type\"%3A0%2C\"primary_position\"%3A-1%2C\"ranking_signature\"%3A0%2C\"commerce_channel\"%3A503%2C\"value\"%3A0%2C\"upsell_type\"%3Anull}"}
Dzimm
Yeah all those extras aren't worth much with a blown motor..
Gjeep
And the engine blew at 30-40 mph...
89 MJ
Ok, so its 15 grand. You will have a ton of money in rebuilding the motor (because you might was well build it while you are in there), but at the end of the day, it probably isn't going to be worth a ton with the NOM. Well according to the ad poster he had built the motor and it still put a hole in the block. Something doesn’t add up.
BeatCJ
Probably related to building the motor. Bearings, too loose or tight will do that. Or he used all 644 ponies at once, and something bent. Just because it went boom at low speed doesn't mean it was always there.
derf
Probably related to abusing the motor. Low speed doesn't mean part throttle. He very well could have been WOT getting up to speed when it let go. If he had been hammering it a lot for a long time, it was bound to happen. Besides, I put "happened at low speed" and "low boost" in the same category as "ran when parked". He may be telling the truth but who can say for sure? He may have run into a rod with an unseen flaw that decided to let go. Or he may have ragged it out until it popped.
NHMJXJ
I'm sure he'll be sitting on it for a while. It's not all that "rare" and if he blew it up, the money is gone. There are 28 listed on carsforsale.com under $30k and much nicer. Oh and you can drive them too. https://www.carsforsale.com/Search?MinModelYear=2007&MaxModelYear=2007&OrderBy=Relevance&OrderDirection=Desc&PageNumber=2&PageResultSize=15&PricedVehiclesOnly=false&FilterImageless=false&HideRepairable=false&UsePopularId=false&Trims=SRT8&Makes=Jeep&Models=Grand Cherokee&
Pete M
can't help but notice that the ad says "426 hemi". if so, this is harder to directly compare to the other SRT8s.
NHMJXJ
Yeah, but ... blown up 426 Hemi.
Pete M
true dat. but I'm sure there was a lot of other work to get that engine in there.
derf
Chrysler has a new generation 426 Hemi. I seriously doubt that's a 60s Hemi he put in. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a24404997/1000-horsepower-426-hemi-crate-engine-mopar/

I mean, it doesn't really matter as the engine is done, you can't drive it so the trans could be bad as well. Saying it was built blah blah doesn't mean anything. I would MAYBE pay 3k for it. Even that is pushing it.
