Mac7's Build

Thought that I'd properly introduce myself, I'm Mac. I just purchased a 86 4.0, 4x4, long bed, with a 4 speed.  My plans will be to make into a daily driver, which means I'll be swapping the transmission out with something that has an overdrive. The below pic is of her on the way home. This will be a slow moving build as life is really busy at the moment. I'll be digging and looking around for info, thanks in advance!

Its an inline 6 that the previous owner swapped in, he also put in a different 4 speed. I'll take pictures of it once I'm home. I have an AX-15 that I'm going to swap it with.

please do.  I'm super curious as to what's going on in there.  :L:

Thats gotta be a 4.2. That valve cover would fit a 4.2 head up to ‘86 based on the bolt hole configuration. 4.2 intake manifold also. Older CJ alternator mount on top... V-belts... yup, it’s a 4.2.

I guess swapping in a 4.2L is an option but you might as well just leave the  4.0L and drop in 4.2L guts to make a stroker. I just saw its an 86, the fact the PO dropped in the 4.2L is pretty good. Probably was literally plug and play with the 2.8L harness and set up
