anyone want to throw together a rain leak location compilation thread?

i don't think a master list exists yet.  I'm picturing it with photos of the plethora of possible points of penetration.  some of them are not all that obvious when your interior is still intact and I think this might help out immensly.

I think this copypasta about covers it:

It's common for them to leak absolutely goddamn everywhere. Any hole in the cab can, will, and has leaked. The waterproofing engineer at AMC was out sick when the cab design for the XJ was approved, and the MJ has all the same problems. Sometimes they even leak where there aren't holes. If you want a waterproof Comanche, there's no easy way out. You've got to eliminate every possible leak point, and if that means stripping the entire interior, so be it. There are so many potential leak points it's honestly impossible to point to any one source in a "yep, that's where the problem is" way.

Want a short list? OK:

- Door seals

- Wire harness bulkhead connector

- Brake booster at firewall

- Clutch master cylinder at firewall

- Steering column at firewall

- HVAC drain gasket

- HVAC pipe gasket

- HVAC fresh air duct gasket

- Blocked HVAC fresh air duct drains

- Blower motor gasket

- Blower motor housing gasket

- Antenna

- Gaps in the seam sealer around the firewall

- Blocked HVAC box drain

- Front windshield

- Rear windshield

I was thinking of something a bit more noob-friendly with photos and arrows or circles. :D

and tips, like drilling a hole from teh engine bay through the wheelwell to keep water from pooling up in this area:

It's a Jeep.  If there ain't no oil under em, there ain't no oil in em.

whoops, looks like I never said rain.  I meant rain leaks.  :L:

although the oil leak situation is the same.  if it can leak, it will leaked.

Yeah, any time someone says Jeep and leak together in the same sentence, my brain immediately goes to oil leaks.

I mean, we've covered just about every leak at some point in time here, but the knowledge is scattered and so each time we talk about it it becomes "could be anything, you just gotta figure it out".  I'm sure we can do better than that. :D   It only seems like there are infinite possibilities.
