When I go back on Thursday I can see how rusted it is if it's still there, if you're interested I can pull it for ya, but depending on where you're at would either be shipping or delivery.

Spotted this one at a yard in Elm Mott, TX 1988 2wd with column shift automatic. Anyone needs any parts I can see what's left next Thursday.

He looked like he was closer to 80 then 60, but I digress, I'm not going to put it past anyone if they're set to do something they'll figure out a way. I just didn't think of mentioning it since I've never had to do it, my truck was already 4x4 when I got it.

I dunno... Guy wasn't exactly young...

On my way to the big box store I followed this light blue comanche into the parking lot, talked with the owner a few mins. It's an 89 2wd with about 216k on the clock, he said he wishes it was 4wd they had 4wd ones in the railroad and it was amazing where you could take them.

Ours just needed new gaskets... Took the engine out and resealed it, no leaks now. Only thing that will get upgraded later is the 4 wheel drum brakes with no booster.... And a single pot MC. Going to get front disc with booster off another fomoco full size sedan up to 72.

Drove it from washington state back to Texas, went down highway 89 then route 66, etc... Nice trip through a lot of very scenic road and national parks. Got a ton of complements and comments, most people think it's a Chrysler, some thought I was very foolish or brave to make that huge of a trip in a car that old. Other than it leaking oil like the Exxon-Valdez and going through 20 or 30 quarts of oil... Ran beautifully for sitting up for years (yes I had newer tires put on and I checked it out mechanically before hand)

My newest car is a 1995 f250... Then it goes down to my 93 f250 service truck, 1988 jeep comanche pioneer, 1988 mercury colony park wagon, 1973 mercury colony park wagon, 1973 ford galaxie 500 ex cop car, and 1966 mercury monterey breezeway. Seems like my cars are just getting older, the 66 Mercury is the latest car in the bunch...

Ok I work for one of the other big box stores but if its anything like ours... It looks appears to be a clearance tag (you'd have to check to see if that item is still regularly stocked on the shelf) it is still on the website but that means little. Why a store will clearance an item like that is because corporate in their wise wisdon realizes that that item at that location doesnt sell and is replacing it with what they hope will sell. Its totally automatic the price drops and no one inserts the price in a machine to do it... So no one screwed up per se. The other thing it could be is a reduced tag (i don't know what theirs looks like) and those auctomatically knock a percentage off regular retail price, usually 25%, and it automatically will drop after so much time to the next tier... When it drops out of the system (99% off) it gets destroyed, same with clearance items when they drop to a penny. Now what I think is it was clearance, the local system sticker says 4.78 yet the register rang it up at 9, I've seen this a few times on clearance items... The two systems didnt update at the same time... Local market is lower were district/regional price is slightly higher for some reason... So it gets marked to sticker price. Anyway thats my educated guess and two cents... Great deal though!

Anyone have a set? Tried the yards but no luck... The 710's burn really rich for the 4.0 and i ended up losing 2 mpg.

This is why I don't own a new car... Newest car I own is 20 years old, a 2000 Crown Victoria LX... The others? My '88 Comanche, my wifes '88 Colony Park with 20k on it, and two 1973's... One a colony park, the other a Galaxie police interceptor, both equipped with 460's 😎 ETA: no car payments either.

Need help with finding fuel injectors
Maveric replied to jdwillys's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well, as hobo put it, we swapped the injectors... The old bendix deka injectors from factory had to go, they were starting to leak! Once we pulled the injectors there was a ton of black crud in the ports... Cleaned it out with a rag, brake clean, and a screw driver. Then we put new rings on the injectors we were putting in (bosch 710's) and installed them and buttoned it all back up. Tested for leaks using a jumper on the fuel pump relay, no leaks so we fired it up... Of course it ran like crap because of the brake clean in the ports... And was smoking too... Also since i cleaned the engine yesterday some crud fell on the exhaust manifold and burned ofd so it smoked and stank there too... Anyway besides mosquito abatement we ran it up to 1500 rpm and let it warm up... It idled well and still no leaks... So hobo tells me to take it on the highway and get it up to speed and come right back. I get to the highway, wait for traffic to clear... And punched it... Now before when I'd do this... There is considerable lag, its always driven like an old truck... It gets there but not all that fast... What a difference these new injectors made, its peeling around the corner... I get out of the turn and slap it into 2nd... Then 3rd... Its going like greased lighting... Then some jerk in a newer nissan Z pulls in front of me and goes really slow... Turns his hazzards on... I figure what the heck my turn off is coming up so i start to turn into it... He suddenly cuts me off and hits the brakes... Not being phased i go from 4th back to 3rd and punch it again... Then slap it into 4th and then 5th at 60 mph... Got to say those injectors made a difference... Runs quiet, has more power, starts more efficiently... I wish i had the ax15... I don't know how it compares to the 746's but the 710's seem to work just fine. I do plan on testing the 746's at some point in the future so i will let yall know if theres any difference. -
Did the electric door locks and power windows, had to change the door panels... First I found this one off an 89 cherokee limited that was fully loaded (ended up with a few parts off it) unfortunately only one panel was there... The door switch bezel I bought off of a member here, works great and matches the rest of the chrome trim... But having mismatched door panels drove me crazy... Thats when we found these! Off a 95 cherokee country that was fairly loaded, love how the colors with the rosewood really brings out the interior colors and paint... can't wait to repaint the truck back to its original color and it will really look sharp!

Great way to ruin two Jeeps... Didn't even use duct tape... Redgreen project this ain't...

Guess you haven't seen the tan one in the neighborhood then hobo... If we're counting on the road in the last 5 years i see them occasionally, there was a black one with rollbar that rolled through here, the tan one in my neighborhood... Seen a few red ones and blue ones up in the dfw area... But you just don't catch a lot of them, but there wasn't many made to begin with.

That's what we were figuring, we'll try it, thanks.

Well... Looks like ill be doing the radiator change sooner than later... My radiator which is about 12 years old... Blew out... So looks like its time to save up and snag all the parts for the open system... Of course this happens right after a new belt, plugs, and wires too...

Anyone got a part number on those lights? I want a set! My original ones are broken.

After 6 long years, one new clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder, master cylinder... New gas tank, cherokee fuel hanger, new fuel line... New fluids... New battery.... And a bit of coaxing... She lives again! After changing her fluids and adjusting her brakes i took her around the block.... Darn speedometer doesnt work... I think the cable might be broken? Looking online at the local parts houses theres a short 38" and a long 92"... Anyone know what length is in an 88 comanche with a 4.0 4wd with the Peugeot trans?

Looking at the engine the other day i noticed this plastic H? That looks like it once held rigid plastic piping but its broken off... I can't see anything it would connect to... Maybe someone with the service manual will be able to guide me to what it is, how its connected, etc...

Hey hobo! welcome aboard! Yeah the truck went out sometime in 2012/2013 when my foot went to the floor trying to change gears... clutch went out... well it sat up at my dads place, and owning at the time the 03 p71 I never got around to fixing it... well years went by like they do, the 03 blew a ujoint and broke the driveshaft and it got junked, replaced by an 08 p71, and yet more time passed... and then i bought my first house and the truck had to go... so it sat at my place, and i kept meaning to get around to it, but work and repairing the house, being married with small children... kept putting it off... Well... long story short, I've come a long way mechanically and its time to get it running again and not just sitting in my garage... So I got the parts to repair the BA10 (yes i know, perfect time to swap it, but that'll come later, I need the truck to get the transmission home) and have been working on it the last few days, pulling the transmission, and refreshing the engine... this summer I had replaced the fuel tank and sending unit, since it had sat up for so long the fuel could strip paint... unfortunately no one makes an MJ sender and I had to use a XJ sender... Anyway long story short, It's going to be breathing again soon, and I'll be happy to drive it again... I just wonder where all the years have gone!

After a several year hiatus (last i logged in was 2013 WOW!) I stumbled across my old stomping grounds! Hello everyone who may remember me with my 1988 Comanche Pioneer! It's been a long long road... If anyone remembers me, please say hello! we probably have a lot of catching up to do... Anyway I thought I'd drop back in and let you know I'm still alive! Now it's time to go catch up on what I missed for the last 6 years...

Hey y'all I finally found my second vehicle, a 2003 ex transit authority railroad p71 police interceptor. She runs real good, got cold a/c, rack in pinion steering, and heated mirrors, but my Comanche still beat's her out in my heart, I think I'll love that truck more than any other vehicle I ever own. Anyway thanks for all y'all's help out there in helping me track it down, although I bought it from the state found a good source for government auctions... Anyway will post pics soon as I can clean 'er up and get the camera out. Y'all take care!

ran all my vac hoses down, still high on the idle, unplugged the one that leads to the "map sensor" and...no high idle, has air flowing through the hose (making a spfff sound) map sensor go bad after i cleaned the throttle plate? or what? Edit: I do know that the correct amount of power is running to the sensor (5 volt and 2.5) by using an ohm meter but i don't know how the sensor is working as i can't get a probe in there the right way without busting something.
