Tankedy Tank Tank Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Hi All, I noticed how hard it was to find more of these tail gate hinge bumpers so my wife made a 3d file and I printed some out of TPU. I can upload the files somewhere if there is a desire. Please see the images attached. Tailgate Bushing Small w Hole.stl Tailgate Bushing Large w Hole.stl
eaglescout526 Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 I need a set of these. Wouldve never thought to 3d print those. Nonetheless great work!
Tankedy Tank Tank Posted April 4, 2020 Author Posted April 4, 2020 It's a very difficult to print rubbery filament that's like pushing a noodle. https://gizmodorks.com/blog/all-about-tpu-filament-/
ghetdjc320 Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 @Pete M what do you think about gathering up all these DIY files into one place. I have several vector traced files and templates, we also have the tailgate handle files here somewhere. Would be a nice resource for those looking to restore.

This would be the source files for people to create their own mud flaps, rubber tailgate pieces, switch trim covers, tailgate handles etc.
GrizzzzBear Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 I could use a set too. But I don't have a 3D Printer. What are the chances of making a set for me??
Eagle Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 Pete, I like the idea of creating a separate area specifically for drawings, templates, 3-D printer files, etc. If it's too much work to add a new area to the forum, what would you guys think about creating a new sticky thread at the top of this discussion area and using it only to post drawings (NO discussion, questions, etc. -- just drawings, or links to files)?

Discussions can probably be allowed as long as the first post continually gets updated with the new files as they become available. @ghetdjc320, would you like to start one? that way you can help organize everything into the first post as new ones come in.

Eagle Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 i respectfully submit that the thread should be nothing but a repository for drawings, or links to drawings. As soon as it's open to discussion the information will get buried in the noise. I've watched exactly that happen in a 1911 forum, in a thread that was supposed to be a repository of information about magazines. At this point ... good luck sifting through the detritus to find the data.

It requires a bit more work, but allows for a free flow of discussion but you don't have to peruse anything but the first post to get the info.

That approach worked out well in the apparel discussion.
fiatslug87 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 My brother had some clear TPU (turned out white) and did a test run, just sent them to me.
strictlyxjs Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Something cool i recently discoverd is that many public librarys offer Cheap or even free (in some cases) 3d printing. Give your local public library a call and ask. They will usually do small jobs like this one.
