I seem to remember this topic has been covered before, but I cannot seem to find it by searching the forum.

For a 3.5 inch lift, what sort of choices do I have for decent rear shocks?

I know one way to figure this out is to measure the max. axle droop and the height when against the bump stop, but I am also hoping someone has found some brands to be better than others, especially for a MJ that rarely carries any load.

Thanks for finding that table.  I knew it was out there, but had no idea I had already been shown this in response to a similar question before.

Chalk it up to age.   Yeah, that's my excuse.

Very happy with Bilstein 5100s as well

X2 I went with 5125’s and just browsed the Bilstein catalog until I found the ones I needed with the right valving and lengths. I’d recommend you actually measure your shock length needs vs just going off of something for a 3.5” lift. Actual lift heights just vary too much imo

The description of the mounts are on the second sheet within the workbook.

I don’t see any valving info listed. Do they not post the valving specs? I’d get a set of bilsteins or fox and get them re-valved at accutune for your application.

JK Rubicon take-offs. Cheap, easy, work great.

Any idea on the extended/collapsed length of these Cruiser?

I stumbled into a set of AEV dualsport Bilstein 5100s for dirt cheap and I'm thinking they just might work when I lift my truck.

I had the black JK takeoffs on my truck, 2wd springs with longer shackles, and they were a bit too short at stock height and stock mount locations. The red Rubicon ones are about the same length as the black ones. I personally would not recommend them for 3.5 of lift unless you weld on new shock mounts higher up than the low original spring plate mount ones.
