eaglescout526 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 I have some exciting news about this rare tester! So I was talking with an apprentice tech about a fob battery. I ask which package it came in and he opens a drawer to show me which package and lo and behold! The AM-PC-1 tester is sitting in tech's drawer. When the tech returns I plan to ask him about it. But I wanted to share with you guys as I find this very exciting. Once I learn more I will update you all but this is exciting. Proof!
87MJTIM Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 You going to loan that out? Or take in cruise control units to test?

Lol I wish the tester worked like that. But you unplug the regulator(yellow box) and plug in the tester to the harness to test all inputs are receiving power that will be shown when an LED lights up on the cartridge. Its a lot easier than using a test light on the harness connector. But that being said, if I get it I can loan it out. Just can't believe one was so close to me.
87MJTIM Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 did the owner indicate/hint it was for sale?
eaglescout526 Posted February 21, 2020 Author Posted February 21, 2020 No...I won't know till I talk to him about it on Tuesday. I am not counting on anything at all. Just mere speculation and day dreaming at the moment.
Minuit Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Eaglescout526's Cruise Control Box Emporium?
Eagle Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 How the heck did an apprentice get his grubby paws on one of those?
jdog Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Bought a box with tools from someone retiring, probably doesn't know what it does it he's young. Or using an older techs tools till he can get his own as he says it's in the tech box that was off that day Stock 1988 swb 4.0 ax15 np 231.
eaglescout526 Posted February 23, 2020 Author Posted February 23, 2020 Yes its in the owners(techs) box. The apprentice was only opening the techs drawer to show me which fob battery was used. The apprentice knows nothing about what that tester does or where it goes. I will know more about its story on Tuesday.
eaglescout526 Posted February 25, 2020 Author Posted February 25, 2020 So I talked to the tech about it. I asked him if he has a AMC cruise control tester and sure enough he knew exactly what I was talking about. Pulled it out with instructions. He has had it for forever and can not remember the last time he ever used it. He told me that if I ever wanted to barrow it, I can. I might barrow it and make a video demonstrating how it works.
eaglescout526 Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 You guys won’t believe what I found on eBay for $50
eaglescout526 Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 Lol I couldn't believe it when I stumbled upon it too!
Minuit Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 I would say "you suck" but AMC cruise control voodoo is out of my wheelhouse... so congratulations!

eaglescout526 Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 Just now, 87MJTIM said: What do you search for on ebay: AMC, Jeep, cruise control.....? No actually. It was listed as AMC Jeep Renault cruise control but I was just searching under AMC Jeep and a few things came up that normally wouldn't pop up and that was one of them.

Gojira94 Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I just scored one on Ebay. $15.00 + $7.50 shipping Part #250-3122 / 59C-02425 / AM PC-1-R I'll do a writeup with it after it arrives, since I just started diagnosing a non-functional cruise system. I strongly suspect it's my brake switch adjustment but I saw this and thought it would add vintage fun to the equation.

Yeah it’s the same but has more to it.

Yeah it will be. All I know about the cruise system we have is that it was manufactured by Dana corporation. AMC got the special set up while everyone else got the Dana corp standard kit.
Gojira94 Posted May 26 Posted May 26 5 minutes ago, eaglescout526 said: manufactured by Dana corporation Yes! I saw a fuller description in another listing that was asking $325.00 for one: "Used Dana Electronic Cruise Control Tester. The Part #250-3122. This tester will test the cruise control and speed control. The tester comes with Harness Adapter. Dana Electronic cruise control tester, for systems supplied to car makers and aftermarket installation companies. Dana was the supplier of choice for several car manufactures, including Ford. They also supplied cruise control systems for aftermarket installations at many specialty shops and dealers. This electronics tester facilitates the testing of Dana systems with ease. The tester allows for proper calibration of the low speed setting as well as the accuracy. This tool is used with OBD 1 era and legacy cars."
