start date for using the AX-15

Recommended Posts

this came up on the faceybook and apparently there are a couple websites out there in internet land that list it as mid 88 (fix your site Novak!), but I looked it up and it is for sure mid 89 model year for MJs and XJs.  March 10th to be precise. :D  all hail the factory parts manual!

Missed it by Thaaaattt much!  My build date is March 6.  108 k miles on it.  When I can I expect it to explode?

Never, if you're gentle on it.

Some BA-10s have 300k miles on them without a rebuild. Some blew up young. I'm betting the difference was between the seat and pedals.

With that being said, if the transmission can't handle being driven roughly, it's really not suited to the application anyway. But don't think your trans is going to blow up any day now unless you're doing burnouts or are doing heavy wheeling.

BA10/5 are meant for on road driving, no heavy load, no heavy hauling, no jackrabbit starts, no powershifting, no gear floating... perfect for granma...

from what i have read, worn synchos and case stretching are the common failures, the first due not shifting gears properly, the second.. mm the case is too weak?

what was AMC thinking...

I may as well kiss it good bye then. I float gears all the time. And launch hard.
