They look better than the original dust caps sticking through.

These look like the outer diameter is 1.79. It looks like Dorman part number 13996 outer diameter is 1.8

Just did my front brakes on my 2wd ‘90 this weekend and I had to pop the ones I have off and back on for the job. I remember getting them from NAPA years ago when I last replaced the brake rotors as the dust caps that came on the truck were dented up badly from taking the wheels off and putting them back on. I took a few pics of the one side for you, if the pics help you any...

Thanks!  Does it happen to have a part number on it?  Everything I read said that part store ones didn't fit right so I didn't try, may need to run into Napa and see what they have.  I have the factory one on the other side yet but that doesn't help me with a Napa part number.

I specifically looked for a part number on it and it did not have one on there. I recall when I got them that I took my old one(s) in and used them to select the new ones from what was available. These have been working well for me for at least 6 years now. 

 

When you get the new one, I’d take everything apart and repack that wheel bearing. With it being exposed like it has been you don’t know what you’ll find inside there. Cheap insurance. You’ll need to get a new seal for the backside of the rotor to take it all apart, an inexpensive part. Clean all the bearings up with paint thinner or the de-greaser of your choice. Dry them out by spinning them in a towel and with air, then re-assemble. Spindle nut is a 27 mm. These front wheel bearings are SO simple (and cheap) to do, I wish that I had more vehicles built like this. Also gives you a good chance to make sure your brake caliper slides are free of rust and properly functioning...

 

I really took my time on the one side I disassembled yesterday and it took me 3 hours from the start of the jack stand placement to finishing putting my tools all away. I’ve been this far into it before so everything was nice and free to come apart from the last time still. Other side gets done next weekend hopefully.

Thanks for the advice, wasn't sure how contaminated it would be but yeah better safe than sorry.  Replacing the brakes was the first time I had ever worked on one of these spindles and I couldn't believe how easy it was, I like the design quite a lot.  I replaced every brake system component on this truck less than a year so the brake calipers should still be perfect. 

 

In reality I should just be looking for a new spindle all together and replace it on that side.  When I had it apart it was chewed up pretty good.

No idea.  HOrnbrod thought a bearing may have gone bad at one point.  It looks like someone took a saw too it but it was that way when I bought it so I'll never know for sure.

Here. I know anyone and everyone will probably look for this. Perhaps older AMC family vehicles can be tried for the dust cap. According to Chrysler this cap went into service for the '72 model years and ended in '92.  Yes Chrysler was apparently charging a fortune for this thing.(No there aren't any more around)

Holy crap, $41 for a little metal dome.  I imagine their profit margin was pretty good.
