Pistol Storage Solutions?

Recommended Posts

they make locking steel center consoles for wranglers.  I'd imagine one of those could be adapted to an MJ.
I love my Tuffy full console in my Rubi, but I'm trying to figure out a way to maintain the bench seat, and keep from having to do a bunch of fab work to mount decent buckets.

oh, if you have a bench, then you might be limited to a typical handgun safe bolted to the rear wall.  :dunno:  My buddy had his revolver in a typical handgun carrying case that was cable locked to the seat base.  works ok, but it's main defense is that no one knows it's there and doesn't come prepared with the appropriate cutters.

I have a small key-lockable safe that holds my full-size FN.  I don't yet have it attached, as I have yet to make up my mind where to put it.  I was looking to find a fairly easy to access location.  I'm also a bit limited inside the cab under the seat with my custom-fab'd bucket Dakota seats.  Before I go into a government building or other place that does not allow it, I usually lock it in my safe and lock the safe inside my bed toolbox.

I did install a dash-mounted rubber coated magnet that I thought I'd use more often:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B8XWRBZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  These things are pretty cool.  It works fine, but I find myself keeping my weapon holstered nearly all the time.  I have a Clinger holster and it surpasses my expectations for concealability and especially comfort so I don't really un-holster getting into vehicles.   Highly recommend Clinger for concealed carry of especially full-sized handguns, by the way.

Let me know what you come up with.

The issue arises when you reach a location that is prohibited by law!
I assure you that walking into the County Court building to go pay taxes isn't going to go well when the security buzzer goes off.
I spoke without thinking. Hopefully a good solution is posted.

I have a Sticky Holster, and the Blackhawk version.
I know what ya mean. It's 110% more comfortable than any other holster I have.

https://www.firstalert.com/product/portable-handgun-or-pistol-safe/

Includes a steel lanyard that you can wrap around a seat pedestal to prevent snatch-and-run. Insert pistol, slide box under seat.

First Alert is not the only company that makes them.
That's not bad. I would likely bolt it down somewhere. I just don't trust the cables. Don't know why...

Your call. Bolting it down in a pickup truck makes it much less accessible. I don't know about where you live but around here smash-and-grab type thieves don't generally carry bolt cutters that will snip a hardened steel aircraft cable. Plus, if the case is under the driver's seat, they can't see it looking in the window, so hopefully they won't have any incentive to break in. If they do break in, even more than in a home burglary, their goal is to grab what they can as quickly as they can so they can scoot with the loot. They're unlikely to hang around analyzing the best way to defeat a storage box that's designed not to be broken into, and that may not have anything valuable in it anyway.

That's fine for under a desk ... except that the first night after you install it the cleaning person is going to tell everyone else on the team that you have a gun safe under your desk, and at least one of them is going to mention it to someone at home, and now your gun safe is a known target.

Where ya gonna mount that in your MJ?

I'll most likely make a custom mount for the back wall. I didn't see them on Amazon, but there are some made by a police supply mfg. that are made to mount anywhere, and can be coded or biometric. I'll have to check with the supplier for the PD tomorrow.

I think he just installed a soft topper on his truck, so he can now mount a desk in the bed and install the gun safe to it.   :L:

I ended up getting one of these. It's not exactly what I was looking for, but it's removable, locks into the cage it's mounted, and has a cable if you choose to use it. The lock is double cut, and the arm hooks through the lid, and through the cage.
I put inserts through the rear wall, and mounted the cage.

My Walther PPS m2 in a Sticky Holster fits perfect!

I have several I rotate through according to what I'm doing, where I'm going, what I'm wearing, and weather.

Glock #23 .40cal
Walther PPS .9mm
Ruger LCP .380cal
Walther PPK .9mm
NAA Black Widow .22mag

I've been looking at a Taurus DT .357cal for when we're on the boat, kayaking, camping. That's the polymer frame revolver. I would only but it because it's resistant to moisture, and I can get one super cheap!
