crumbscomanche
So my hood has a decent bit of damage from an accident the PO had. Does anyone know if a 98+ is the same as previous years? I have an extra and it looks pretty damn close.. thanks!
ComancheKid45
I believe all hoods interchange from 87-01.
schardein
No real life experience, but my research shows they all interchange. I did notice that the holes to attach the underhood light changed sometime between 91-93. So you might find other small differences.
Dzimm
Yes they do. Like Schardein said above, there are some small differences but they are the same size.
shelbyluvv
84-86 are different

The 84-86 hoods didn't have those. I believe that's mostly a matter of drilling a couple of holes for attachment. Not certain, but I believe the basic hood is the same and could be adapted to work. shelbyluvv
It can't be modified. Totally different Edit: it can be but why would you? It is a $#!& ton of work and you better be a master bodyman.
crumbscomanche
thanks - is the style the same? not sure if that makes but they literally look identical from the top
HOrnbrod
When I got my Reflexxion cowl hood years ago, it was advertised as fitting all XJ/MJ models 1984 through 2001, but some drilling was required on certain models for the hood hinges. It was an easy bolt-on for me, but there must have been some difference in the hood hinge mounting holes. And I don't know what these differences were.. shelbyluvv
You can put a 87+ hood on a 84-86 easily. You can NOT use a 84-86 hood easily on a 87+. All hoods from 1987 and newer will bolt on a 1987 and newer truck. This is fact because I have done it, owned both trucks and tried it.

The latches are different. 87+ is on the corners, cut into the front of the hood. 86- latch is in the center. It is not worth the work to modify the hoods. shelbyluvv
This is how you put an 87+ hood on a
johnj92131
Hood prop is also in a different location. The 91 has hood prop on passenger side of engine compartment The 86 diesel has hood prop on front of radiator

krustyballer16
For how plentiful hoods are, why try to modify? Unless you can't find an 84- 86 hood to fit your 86...Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
