SoloRiderForever
I was looking thru this thread, and remember that MJ you got to park next to? I'm pretty certain that lives here in Evergreen now, but I haven't met the owner yet. Just thought it was interesting that I looked at a two year old pic you posted and said to myself, "Hey, I know that truck!"

Chad R
I’m surprised to see a Round Oak stove next to your hard top for your CJ. Those were built where I’m from. That looks like a D18.

Chad R
Wow nice fence post lol. Just to let you know that stove model was built from 1900 to 1904. It came in sizes 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, and 24. The number is the size of fire pot. That is a desirable stove because of the size.

I did a little research on it when I first got it and the history on these things is very interesting. A friend of mine was getting ready to sell his property and offered it to me for nothing. Not totally sure where it’ll end up but I’ve got hopes to put it in a small cabin eventually.
Chad R
Good luck with it. If you can’t find parts let me know. I might be able to help
neohic
Had an annoying amount of people thinking I had a Jurassic Park Jeep the other day. First of all, it’s not a YJ! Second, the dinosaurs aren’t supposed to be on the inside!

Pete M
see, it's clearly a wrangler though I spy a dino inside, so that part seems true.

neohic
There’s so much more room in my shop with this in here instead of my truck! The CJ got granted shop access because the other day I noticed the radiator overflow bottle was falling apart. It had a couple tabs at the top that it hung from. They decided to give up. In its place I installed a smaller unit from my parts pile. Then I got looking at other small stuff that bothers me. This started with the hood latches that were bolted down backwards… … and then I cut my leg on the winch cable for the last time. Much better! Pete M
it's so true. I never thought about my MJs as big until I tried to work on them in the garage.

neohic
This has been bugging me lately too. Could’ve sworn I had something lined up for that. Oh! So that’s where I left that switch panel! Also going through my pile of parts finding things to piece together a rear tire carrier.
neohic
Winter soon? Hu… could’ve sworn I was going to do something about an engine this year. Maybe I’ll clean up the paint again. Yup… that’ll fix everything. Some serious decisions need to be made on the body too. If an engine swap is happening, then the front clip will come off to get to everything. After that it’s a few more bolts and the tub is off. Body work? Tub swap? Thoughts?
Pete M
I'm assuming fiberglass bodies exist for the '5s? on the other hand, how nice does a Jeep that old really need to be? clearly it shouldn't be falling apart, but that looks like "character rust" at this point. how are the body mounts looking? 89 MJ
Personally, I would get a complete body (hood, fenders, tub, grille) that are rust free and do a complete body swap. This way, the body will have patina so you can still use it and not worry about scratches or dents and it will all match. I think if you make it shiny, you won't want to drive it. No fiberglass bodies… ever. That was a “solution” from years past and I’ve got zero interest. Body mounts on the frame look fine but the hat channels on the tub side are gone. I could deal with character rust if it was wearing factory paint and everything in the surface was honest. Who knows how many gallons of filler is waiting to fall off. 59 minutes ago, 89 MJ said: Personally, I would get a complete body (hood, fenders, tub, grille) that are rust free and do a complete body swap. This is my ideal solution. My little CJ is considered is an “intermediate” from after AMC bought the Jeep name. ‘72-‘75 are the only years thought would physically bolt to my frame and have everything line up. ‘76 came along and they changed everything. Finding a good 47+ year old donors is proving to be difficult.

They are out of Delta, CO and sell lots of CJs and parts. And they deliver.

neohic
Does anyone know when you find out when you've got a problem with your headlights? That's right... when it's pitch dark outside. Dumb, old Jeep really surprised me last night with the headlights going on and off. I suspect it's the dimmer switch that went bad.
89 MJ
I don't know how far you'd be willing to travel for a solid body, but there is this one in Tucson. https://tucson.craigslist.org/bar/d/tucson-keep-cj5/7544153838.html

When the time comes, I’m sure travel will be a part of the adventure.
