HOrnbrod
Hoping and praying that none of our esteemed members especially in northern California have been affected badly by the fires. I have some friends who live in Santa Rosa who lost everything materially. Thankfully the family is safe and doing as well as they can. Mother Nature has been cruel these last couple of months.... Keyav8r
Between Houston, Florida, Louisiana, The US Virgin Islands, other Carribean islands, Puerto Rico and California we have plenty of people to be praying for. Let’s just take a few minutes each day to pray for all these folks and to thank God for what we have.
jpdriver1
reported at approx 1532 hrs local time today via The Mercury News --- "The string of destructive fires in Northern California have burned a total of more than 182,000 acres of land as of Thursday afternoon, according to Cal Fire’s website. The fires have killed at least 29 people, forced the evacuation of thousands of other residents and destroyed more than 3,500 structures across eight counties, but mostly in the North Bay’s famed Wine Country. To put the size of the fire in perspective, the 182,000 acres is about 281 square miles. That’s nearly six times larger than San Francisco (about 47 square miles) and larger than San Jose (about 180 square miles) and Oakland (about 78 square miles) combined. The fires are burning in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Yuba, Lake, Calaveras, Butte, and Nevada counties. According to the website, The Measure of Things, 281 square miles, the size of all of the fires, is: 4 times larger than Washington D.C. 7 times larger than Disney World 50 times larger than Los Angeles International Airport 200 times larger than Central Park in New York City 1,000 times larger than Disneyland this doesn't include the fire in Orange County -- as of last evening More than 1,600 firefighters battling the once-fast-moving and devastating 9,217-acre Canyon Fire 2 were steadily gaining control of the blaze on Wednesday – aided by cooler temperatures and less wind. As the fire stretches into day four, officials announced Wednesday evening that containment was at 60 percent and full containment was expected sometime Saturday, Oct. 14. “There is no immediate threat to any neighborhood right now,” said Mike Lyster, a spokesman for the city of Anaheim. “But we always (want) residents to keep up on the latest information.” The blaze – which has terrorized the eastern edges of Anaheim, Orange and the North Tustin area – has destroyed at least 23 structures and damaged 36, with three people getting injured. fiatslug87
Checking in, all is OK with CMNCHE1, 2 & 3. We are about 10 miles from the Atlas fire burning in Napa/Solano counties, looks like they stopped its advance. Unfortunately my wife's 2nd cousin and great aunt lost their homes in Santa Rosa. The devastation is horrible, thoughts and prayers for everyone affected by the hurricanes & fires.
86FUBAR
Had a 30 + acre fire start up about 2:00 in monterey county at Laguna Seca Race Way yesterday , it's under control now but could have been much worse . The sad part is it was most likely a cigarette but someone tossed out as a race had just ended and people were leaving !
gogmorgo
Someone recently made headlines in BC for thinking the ticket they got, $575, "just for tossing a cigarette butt" is "insane". Half of all people are less intelligent than the average person...

Couple of teens lit a couple small fires and turn into hell for a lot of people and kill some. Pray for everyone going though the wildfires and recent hurricanes.
