AMC86Kid
i was wondering what these two parts were and if i need them this is under the hood on the top left this is under the hood on the top right
desbennett004
Top left is your MAP sensor. Top Right is your scanner port I think. You need both. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
AMC86Kid
what do the map sensor and the scanner port do ?
Hypoid
The MAP sensor feeds information to the computer that runs the engine. The diagnostic port is where you hook up the appropriate scan tool. Leave them alone.
ftpiercecracker1
This is interesting, i have never ever seen these two parts mounted in those places. Right hand drive? And yes, leave them alone, especially the MAP sensor in the first picture. You don't have to have the diagnostic plug, Renix scan tools are few and far between, but it would be a mess trying to track down and eliminate each of the wires. AMC86Kid
since i did a engine swap i really don't think my map sensor is controlling anything on the motor in the second pic the black thing with the two red wires is a fuze i was wondering what are those two white-ish squares next to it doing
desbennett004
The 2 white squares are port covers. You take those off to plug in a renix scan tool. Easy way tell if the MAP sensor is working is unplug the black hose that runs to it while the engine is running. If it's starts running rough, it's working. AMC86Kid
oh so the white squares are where you plug in the computer and it tells you whats going on since i don't have the original motor and almost non of the sensors hooked up I'm not ever gonna really use those things and i have ran the truck parked on idle and discounted the hose to the map sensor i did not notice any difference in the motor with it connected or not at this point is it safe to say that i don't need either of them ? So what motor did you put in? Not the original motor (type) means going from a 2.2 to a 4.0 or sbc etc. Is this a 4cyl? Stock engine controls (computer)? If this is a direct replacement, I'd suggest reading up on engine controls, what they do, and why you need them.
Minuit
From what I've gathered, it originally had a 2.8 but now has a 3.4.
AMC86Kid
yes its a 2.8 originally but i put in a 3.4 i didn't really do an engine swap the vehicle was bought with no 2.8 in it so i had to drop in the 3.4 kinda like free-styling it i will take it for a test drive with the tube disconnected and see if i notice any difference
