Tranny shift boot

Ripped my shift boot, not the console shift boot but the one that is around the shift tower in a manual. Now when the windows down hot air comes through the cab. Anyone know where to find a new one? Thanks

The one on my red truck is torn all to hell too. IIRC the part number is 53005384. Good luck finding one, since I've had no luck at all. NLA of course and I doubt a junkyard one will be any better than what we have.

Mine is ripped too and let's the cool air in during the morning ride into work... do the cherokees fit the MJ if someone was to somehow find a manual xj?

If I recall, the XJ inner-boot doesn't fit.  

 

I purchased this several year ago.  It is a shifter boot from a TJ.  It was "almost" a perfect fit:  http://www.quadratec.com/products/55014_0949_14.htm

Rockauto shows out of stock... and it's my experience that they don't come back when they get marked out of stock. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Yea, it fit correctly as far as I can tell.  Looked identical to what was left of the original one.

I don't know about the rockauto one. 

 

On mine, I had purchased a different one that "supposedly" fit the MJ.  I wasn't even close.  I search several other threads looking for a replacement.  That how I found the TJ version. It was a near perfect fit.  The difference was probably due to it being Chines Replacement Auto Parts that the on-line retailer sell.

The TJ one is a close enough fit, you have to re drill the holes.

I used the TJ boot in my truck fit great.

Another vote for the TJ boot. Just used a couple self tapping screws and it was good to go. Got mine from Quadratec
