Pete M
have you done the relay upgrade yet?
Megadan
Sylvania tends to make decent products, but Pete is right. If you are going to spend money trying to get better headlights, do the relay harness mod/upgrade. It will do more for you light output than any special headlight setup ever will. Jtrux
The harness is on the way, too. I went ahead and ordered those headlights. I work shift work and drive a lot at night so I'm looking forward to seeing how these do with that upgrade.
mikekaz1
the xtravisions are a nice unit. I really like the silver stars they work great, but have a much shorter lifespan.
gogmorgo
I've been running the H6054xv's on my MJ for three years or so. They were sold as "oem replacements", nothing fancy, and they were priced ~CAD12.99/per. The difference over the factory lights was negligible, just what one would expect going from old cracked sealed beams to new. What really woke them up was doing the relay harness upgrade and aiming them correctly.
Eagle
the xtravisions are a nice unit. I really like the silver stars they work great, but have a much shorter lifespan. Agreed. The Xtravisions don't have a Eurpean light pattern, they're American, but they work. Same wattage as standard on high beam but higher than standard on low beam. I chose them over the Silverstars because of the rated lamp life -- it's more than double the Silverstars, for less money. Combine the Xtravisions with the harness upgrade and you'll have very decent lighting without breaking the bank.
schardein
I run the XV on both my XJ and MJ. Improvement on what was originally there in both cases. I haven't done the harness upgrade yet (just completed battery cable upgrades on both and it is on the list to do). I got mine by pulling every headlight in the pic-n-pull. The XVs are ink stamped on the back... you guessed it "XV" and the silverstars "ST". Full size Fords and S10s are another source and plentiful in the pic-n-pulls. Sylvanias have "Sylvania" on the lens so you don't waste time pulling other brands. Also some say "Sylvania Performance" but can't remember if those are XV or ST. Two hours and I walked out with 6 XV lights for about $3-$5 a piece.
Minuit
I have Sylvania Xtravisions on my truck. No particular reason why, just because they were cheap and better than what was in there. I'm not impressed or disappointed by their performance, but my headlight wiring is still stock.

If someone decides to grab these at the p-n-p, check out the ad, fourth pic down shows how they are stamped "XV" at the end. Also says "Sylvania Performance" on the lens.. mikekaz1
FWIW if you decide to junkyard search it... most are manufacture date stamped on the back too. so try and find the youngest too.
ScottJeep
mine have served me well... got them for a steal when RockAuto.com put them on clearance. harness already upgraded. the XVs, a harness, AND a good, REAL headlight aim job should make it worth your time, effort and money. now run a set of AutoPal glass housings with standard bulbs...re-aimed them and while I like the XVs the AP setup seems to have a better pattern ( which makes sense) and the two housings with bulbs were less than $
schardein
I ran a set of Autopal housings for about 10 years in a K5 and then switched them to my CJ7. Had to replace them when I filled them up with water on a trail run and they rusted inside.
