shelbyluvv
We drove 9 hours round trip to go get our KL Trailhawk. I can honestly say that I love this thing. It has power for days, is comfortable as hell, has a rear locker and looks killer. Say hello to Snowbird.
HOrnbrod
I looked at them and likey. Does it have the 3.2 Bo?
gogmorgo
They're definitely better looking in person for sure. The new girl at work has one. I lean a little more towards the Renegade (Trailhawk, obviously) but I'm a long way from buying a new car. I may (slim chance) get to pick myself a new work vehicle though, and I'll be trying to get myself a KL Trailhawk too if they don't make me get a truck. Pete M
nice find Bo  anyone have an idea of how big a tire they can run? has the aftermarket come up with any bumpers?
shelbyluvv
I looked at them and likey. Does it have the 3.2 Bo? It has the 3.2 with the tow group. That lowers the gear ratio to 3.517 and increases the towing capacity to 4500# over the standard 2000#. nice find Bo  anyone have an idea of how big a tire they can run? has the aftermarket come up with any bumpers? 245/70/17 is the biggest you can run on a stocker. No lift is available yet and there may never be one. RRO has a front winch mount and sliders, Mopar has sliders has well. Bumpers are "in the works". Only one I know if making parts is Rocky Road. But....we know how that road ends.
Dadinator
Looks good. I like them. I'm sure you didn't pay the price on the windshield, but; damn vehicles are expensive now days.

Only one I know if making parts is Rocky Road. But....we know how that road ends. The Mopar sliders are $852. RRO Super Sliders are $538. As much as I hate RRO, I may be forced to buy from them again. The guys on www.JeepCherokeeClub.com have very few complaints about RRO's sliders. It is still the same customer service issues though. I really hope I can stumble on some Mopar rails for around $500. Looks good. I like them. I'm sure you didn't pay the price on the windshield, but; damn vehicles are expensive now days. I paid a few grand less for it. I did a lot of shopping around and the going rate for low mileage Trail Hawks is $26,000+!
rmoore1031
I personally hate white vehicles and the exterior of the KL. Yes its the L series thingy already lol. But I respect the interior of it. Pure genius with the laptop compartment and misc features. I wanna get a Renegade Trailhawk when I get the money in Commando green. HOrnbrod
2014 Dakar concept. 33" 17's on 2" lift and funky "wider" flares. Would look a lot better w/o the flare mounting holes I think. And what's up with the two red spokes on each wheel and the two red grill slots?
gogmorgo
And what's up with the two red spokes on each wheel and the two red grill slots? Obviously some "designer" got at it. It's a concept car, what did you expect?
shelbyluvv
There's a guy on my KL board that has his Trailhawk painted to mimic the Dakar. I personally want mine to be closer to the Trail Carver concept. Just wait until you guys see Onyx in a few months. Just think white MJ Trailhawk... shelbyluvv
I have driven the TH in the sand and mud. I am very impressed with the little guy. I am however not impressed with the www.jeepcherokeeclub.com forum. That board is full of rich, arrogant pricks. The persona that Trailhawk owners are snobs is 100% true with them. If you even mention the fact that it has limitations they will attack you at every angle. I am not a new Jeep owner like half of them are. I know and accept the limitations of my KL. Let's face facts here... It is a car. It has plastic bumpers. It has no ground clearance. It is FWD until the transfer is engaged. It has IFS and IRS. It does not flex. The only lift is a $700 coil spacer, um no! At best it is a bunny slope, easy line wheeler. It is not and never will be a hard core crawler like a real solid axle rig. Just ask youself a few questions. Is it comfortable for you space wise? Does it run and drive? Does it get you where you want to go? And most importantly, Did you buy it for you or for the other forum members? Of you answered For You, then you chose the right awnser. Its yours, you bought it, you pay for it. Once the other guys start paying your car payments or insurance, only then can they have an opinion about it.
rmoore1031
I believe the KL Cherokee has more ground clearance than the stock XJ has. And better approach angles if I remember right.
shelbyluvv
I like my TH. I just don't think it will ever be half the Jeep my XJ was.
gogmorgo
I believe the KL Cherokee has more ground clearance than the stock XJ has. And better approach angles if I remember right. Yes and no. The specs pages will all quote a higher number for the KL than for the XJ, (around 8.5" vs 7.5" but I'd have to look up the numbers and I'm lazy) however the measurement is the absolute lowest point of the vehicle. On an XJ, that's the diff. The KL's independent setup tucks the diffs up into the body more, giving you more clearance under the diffs, but it's got a pretty flat bottom, so you don't get much more clearance than 9 or 10 inches anywhere. Contrast this to the XJ where most of the body is sitting around a foot off the ground. http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/which-is-better-off-road-a-brand-new-jeep-cherokee-or-1737783085 Worth a look. I still respect the KL for what it can do, given what they started with.

Doc.
Personally I don't like the new Cherokee. I think they should have named it something else out of respect for what they (and all Jeeps) used to be. Here is another reason to not like the new Cherokee, or any of the computers on wheels all manufactures are selling us now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK0SrxBC1xs As far as specs for wheeling a new one, I didn't read up, but I'd love to take an old XJ and wheel it against a new one. I'd bet the old one would go a lot farther and leave a lot less parts on the trial. At any rate there is no other vehicle that can be can lifted, modified, and capably wheeled, on a light budget, like an old XJ.
gogmorgo
I bet it sells a whole hell of a lot better as a Cherokee than it would if they called it a Compass... Which is why it got the name. And frankly, if you compare it's origins to the XJ's origins, it's basically the same, just more modern. Face it. Most XJ's were sold new because people wanted a truck that drove like a car to haul around their 2.5 children in the snow. That's what the new Cherokee is.
