I bought a Cherokee

I put the Trailhawk in "Sport" mode yesterday. Oh my God! I'm not sure what that setting does but it turns that thing into a rocket ship! Shifts are longer but firmer. It pulls like a mother! It also kills the fuel mileage. I am averaging 21.4 mpg in city/hwy combined. Not too shabby for a bloated Fiat. The more I drive it the more I like it.

Probably just holds the gears longer... You've got what, nine of them? Can't imagine it's pushing too hard in "regular" mode, just bouncing to the next gear without revving too high, but in sport mode, you'd get all those gears holding it in the power band, instead of an "economy" band.

For those of you too young to remember the XJ was universally hated by jeepers when it was introduced. Worse than the YJ even. It wasn't until second and third owners began beating the crap out of them that they felt the love.
