The_Anvil_Grey_Comanche
Hey guys, a few of you may remember me from couple years back with the OD Green MJ I did in a military theme. Well i sold that one and missed it so much I decided it was time to get another one. So here it is. Started off as a lowered 2wd, 4.0L, 5 speed 1991 Comanche. Was a pretty straight and solid truck so I didn't mind the 2wd part as I knew they are easy to convert. Talked the guy down to $1300 and drove it home an hr away. First thing I did was hit up the local Pick N Pull and get some stock coil springs and put the 2 leafs back in the rear. Drove it for a couple months like that then saved up for everything to convert it to 4wd. In the meantime I sprayed in a Scorpion bedliner. Also known as Als Liner. Ended up buying a Cherokee for parts and used the Dana 30 HP 3.55 up front. Also did some trading and got a white 97+ front clip and doors. Then I Located a 4wd AX15 and 231 T case then found a local guy who already had a Ford 8.8 with 3.55 and discs setup for a Comanche so took that off his hands as well. Bought a 6" Iron Rock Offroad Long Arm kit for the front and did a spring over in the rear. While i had it torn down I went ahead and put all the 4wd parts under it and the lift as well. Scored some 33x12.50x15 Firestone Destination MT tires for 50% off since my family works for Firestone. Then mounted them on 15x8 ProComp wheels. Also ordered Napier fender flares, Smittybilt front bumper, and JCR offroad rear bumper that I installed during the build as well. Scored a Rough Country 9500lb winch locally for $200 so couldnt pass it up! Installed some LED lights and misc goodies on it in the meantime too First trip out! truck did real good however the suspension was still pretty stiff. I'm sure itll soften up some as I use it more. Also the shocks are limiting the travel right now. Current state: Ive torn it back down to paint it and put the new doors on. I went with Anvil Grey off a newer Wrangler. Loving this color so far! The center section of the tailgate will get sprayed with satin black and the JEEP will get left grey. Was debating on doing some louvers in the hood but decided to punch some holes in it and add dimple dies. I have some mesh I'm gonna add behind it to finish it off. In the process of doing bodywork to the rest of the Jeep and hope to have it all painted within the next 2 weeks.

88whitemanche
This thing is dopeX2!!! I would've kept it white but let's see how the new color unfolds...
The_Anvil_Grey_Comanche
I started to leave it white but you see so many of them and the Cherokees that are white so wanted something little different. Plus the white doors I got ended up being beat up so the ones I'm painting are in much better shape.

The_Anvil_Grey_Comanche
Got the doors painted and pretty much put back together. Waiting on new lock cylinders to show up and buffing the doors while theyre off also. Not too worried about the bottom as it'll get bedliner from the bodyline down to help avoid rock chip and such. Went ahead and modified the hinges for quick removal. Ditched the torx head bolts and am using stainless hex button heads now. Got the cab sanded and ready for primer. Hope to have it done this week. Also while I was waiting for filler to harden up I threw in my gauges I had made from Azzys Design Works. Fitment is great and so is the quality! Cool white LEDs for the lighting

Coming together again slowly but surely Added alum hex mesh under the cowl instead of the plastic. Also making screens from this for the holes in the hood as well. A-man930
Bitchin. Definitely more info on that mesh. I wonder how dirty that engine bay is gonna look after one trail run . :MJ 1: .
The_Anvil_Grey_Comanche
The mesh is from customcargrilles. It's not that expensive and a nice alternative to anything else ive seen. I'm not one to get in much mud so hopefully it'll stay decently clean. Plus I always wash it after a ride anyways
The_Anvil_Grey_Comanche
Once the truck is back together I hope to build a tire carrier tailgate and find a nice way to mount my hilift jack also.
cody4359
Any updates? Looks good so far, with the napier flares, in the rear it looks like there is a couple inch gap from the bottom on the bed to the front on the flare, did you raise the mounting point or is that just how they are? The_Anvil_Grey_Comanche
Couple updates: Finished the truck, well finished the paint and body anyways. Threw on some ACOS adjustable spacers and a set of 35" Cooper STT Pros. Added JCR 1 ton over the knuckle steering 3 core Champion aluminum radiator with shroud and 3-10" fans made some taillight guards Next on the list is a 241OR transfer case and 4.56's. Probably do the Volvo LSD up front for now then upgrade to a D44. Plan on riding it most this summer and hopefully LS swap it this winter. :)
DirtyComanche
I always like the look for the new style front end. Your paint body work looks amazing too.
