MGriff013
I am looking to replace the door panels on my 91 Comanche... I just want to be sure that I can use door panels from a 4 door Cherokee, or do I need to find some from a 2 door Cherokee? This is my first Comanche so things are still pretty new to me lol... Thanks for all the help!

kekaha988
All these guys are wrong a door panel off any 4 door Cherokee will not work you, you need one off another Comanche or 2 door Cherokee. Go take out all your tape measures see for yourselves. He is the only one who is wrong. A 2 door panel is about 6" longer than a MJ door and it will NOT work. I used the door panels from a 1999 2 door Cherokee it is a tough fit also the outside mirror almost everything off the 1999 body wise works. The doors will not bolt in but it was nice I took out the one piece window tried as I might it did not work so it was back to the vent window The doors will bolt on. There are probably 25 trucks on here with the newer doors installed. The only modification needed is installing the newer style striker in the B pillar. I know this is correct because I have the newer doors on my 89. A 1990 is the last year of the first generation of Comanche. A lot of things changed like no manual cable for the speedo the ECU does not interact with the Instrument Cluster the wires harness is easier to trace there are 2 ECUs one for the automatic transmission and one for the rest. The one for the rest that ECU is located under the dash driver side and is a b*@$£ to pull, you can not exchange ECU from 1991 on into the 1990 but you can try the 84 to 90 but it has been my experience that nothing works till you try All auto MJ have a TCU under the dash. The 91-92 MJ is a High Output OBD-I setup. That is why the ECU will not work with a RENIX. Good Luck Try Rock Auto for parts, parts in Hawaii is up there they tell us it's the shipping but it is just corporate greed. I use Rock Auto as an interchange catalogue did you know that a 1988 chevy S10 has the same power steering unite as the Comanche all the hoses are the same. Only the 2.5 and 2.8 Chevy power steering pumps will work on the 2.5 or 2.8 powered Jeeps. If you have a 4.0 the pumps will not work. I used Rock to get a clutch hydraulic master cylinder and slave for my Comanche that I am changing over to Muncie 4 speed oh yes I did I put a SBC into my Comanche 108 more cubes 3 more miles per gallon Go to youtube put in Comanche transfer case look for the 700R4 let me know what you think all of you Edited March 20, 2015 by shelbyluvv Too much bad information

kekaha988
I am wrong I step outside cause I had to go some place. One look at my Comanche I knew WRONG in my defense (as there is one) I was thinking about my old 2 door Cherokee. If you read I mention that I had a 1999 but crow does not taste any better If you want to see what I have done to my Comanche go to youtube look up Comanche using transfer case shifter then for the 700R4 that is me. It is my daily driver, company vehicle.
HOrnbrod
Since this guy doesn't know how to post a Youtube link, here it is: You really should clean up that wiring mate.
kekaha988
All ready acknowledge WRONG But this is what I write call it what you want it still smells the same. First generation up to 1990 you can not us newer 1991 and newer ECU. So my prose ain't that good but you got the picture. That is what I write not interchangeable with newer Comanche's Good Luck Try Rock Auto for parts, parts in Hawaii is up there they tell us it's the shipping but it is just corporate greed. I use Rock Auto as an interchange catalogue did you know that a 1988 chevy S10 has the same power steering unite as the Comanche all the hoses are the same. I only own vehicles that have 4.0 or 4.2 and them I have converted to SBC. I have worked on vehicle with the V6 and 4. So at the jeep assembly line a frame goes down the line and oh by the way lets use 2 different power steering unites. Only the 2.5 and 2.8 Chevy power steering pumps will work on the 2.5 or 2.8 powered Jeeps. If you have a 4.0 the pumps will not work. You need to check I write power steering unit and high pressure hose are a match go check. I know because my Comanche has the power steering pump off an 88 S-10. The high pressure hose is off the 88 Comanche the power steering unite is OEM Comanche. So two wrongs and all that I know I am wrong on the door panel. Lets move on Get to know me I can really screw up. Check youtube look up Comanche using transfer case shifter then for the 700R4 that is me. Minuit
Any door panels from an '84-96 4 door Cherokee will fit. Pick the ones you like the looks of most. The only modification you may need to do is cut holes for your manual window cranks. If the donor vehicle has the Jensen audio system the bezels will not clear the stock window cranks properly.
