Bonkers
I've spent most of the day reading reviews on various tires since the (used) Wrangler Radials I put on didnt exactly wow me during this last snowfall. I pretty much decided on the Wrangler DuraTracs but when I enter vehicle information all the sites agree that "these tires do not fit your vehicle..." blah, blah... LT235/75/15's - only differences are higher PSI max (30vs50) and LOWER weight capacity (1958vs2028) but other than that they seem on paper to be near exactly the same tires. I don't exactly have my heart set on the DuraTracs, and Ive had great experience with the more expensive Michelin AT2s on other vehicles, I'm just confused to whether I missed something? Eagle
The sites report that they don't fit because that size was never used by the factory. The largest from the factory was 225/75R15. That said, even as I type my wife's Cherokee is rolling on Wrangler Radials in 235/75R15 and they fit fine. My old '88 Cherokee is on 31x10.50-15s, with no lift -- and the Cherokee rear wheel wells are smaller than the Comanche's.
vfb
I am also looking at this size, but I heard they might/would rub at the front.
gogmorgo
My 235/75/15s do rub a small amount on the lower control arms, but not enough to be a major concern. It only happens at low speed when I've got the steering wheel cranked all the way in one direction. It should be fairly simple to adjust the steering stops to prevent this. Jeep Driver
There are solutions.......itty bitty tires ain't one of them.
dasbulliwagen
I had 235 BFG A/T's with no rubbing and no lift when mine was 2wd.
sinkrun
I run 30`s which are a little bigger on a stock truck with WJ controll arms for clearance.
yxmj
As long as you are running a rim with stock backspacing you will have no problem..... . :MJ 1: .
Bonkers
Well I have always run P235/75R15 on my Michelins and Bridgestones, and TireRack, TireDirect, and Amazon all list this size as fitting my Mj in Goodyear Wrangler Radials (which I am currently running) among others. But P235/75R15 in Wrangler RS fit, but LT235/75R15 DuraTracs supposedly do not. Is anyone here running the 29" DTs on their stock wheels? My concern is that the stiffer sidewall somehow prevent the tire from being mounted on the wheel... or something along those lines....
dasbulliwagen
You will not have any issues mounting an LT tire on a factory or any other type of rim that would normally fit that size tire. I think that you are over thinking this. The website that says that tire won't fit your truck is not the be all and end all of tire mounting information. It may just be saying it because the MJ was never rated for an LT tire. A lot of the Michelin LTX's and BFG A/T's that are commonly used are LT rated and are used with no issues. If you like those tires, get them. You'll be fine!
danbyrambler
Lawyers - - If it's not OEM, Factory Install or spec'd & they sell/Install it they can be held liable if something real or imagined goes wrong.
Crash
235/75 should fit no problem. I know 31's will fit in the back no problem, but you would rub in the front for sure.
Incommando
A big issue is not just the size but the design. A mild street tread or A/T will fit without rubbing the LCA where an M/T with aggressive side lugs will rub. I put 31s on an unlifted 2wd and they never rubbed but they were a street tread. For liability reasons those dealer sites will rarely suggest a non-stock size.
johnj92131
I ran a full set of 235/75 x 15 Kumho SR21 tires for a while with no problems on stock aluminum wheels. Only reason they are not on the truck now is the truck was stolen in Tijuana and the thieves took the tires and wheels.
