Rant: The Le-Freaking-Bron Freakshow

I have to rant. Is anyone as sick as I am of hearing Le-Freaking-Bron's name over and over 24/7 not only on the sports channels but even the international news channels? Jesus, it's like the Messiah returning to Cleveland. And this is the same year in which he and the other collection of individuals in Miami got blown out of the water in the finals by a real NBA team, the San Antonio Spurs. Miami should be celebrating that this overblown over-hyped turkey is going away and they can get back to playing roundball as a team again.

And does anyone find it extremely offensive that the ridiculous LeBron Miami exodus theme song is now "I'm Coming Home"? This tribute music was originally intended to honor our vets returning home from Afghanistan, Iraq, and other miserable places we shouldn't be in. Some were returning with missing limbs and some were returning in a box. Now this music has been degraded to celebrate some clown "going home" to Akron because he was offered more $$ in Cleveland than anywhere else. What a freakshow.

Rave on, Don! I'm right in there with you. We were on vacation this week and it seemed as if every time someone flipped the TV on it was the LeBron James show. Loved the statement that he saw himself going back as a mentor to "all the young guys" and getting them to the championship level.

People getting paid way too much to play a game in a nice air-conditioned arena while we've got military families barely getting by because their pay isn't commensurate to their skills and the nature of their workplace.

The "I'm Coming Home" misuse? Leave it to the media to take something honorable and drag it down to commonplace.

I live close enough to Cleveland (Youngstown ) and frankly I'm sick of hearing about Lebron allready also. The same people that hated him when he left Cleveland are praising him now . Truthfully I don't care about him , he makes millions of dollars a year for something he likes to do and I have to go to work everyday and get paid peanuts for something I hate to do!!

I have no use for professional athletes be they in college or the so called pros.  They get paid way too much and get way, way, way, too much adulation.

But the real problem is not the athletes or the stupid team owners.  It is the idiot fans, who eat this dribble up and shovel money towards the professional and college sports.  It is  a problem with the society we live in.  Me, I have not been to a professional game in a good 20 years, maybe 25 years.  Who needs a "role model" just because they can move a ball down some field?  That said, Tony Gwynn was a hell of a nice guy who did not let things go to his head.

I known him for personally about 17 years, went to school with him ,before he was "famous". Yeah he's got a few issues lol. Bar stools , strip clubs , rehab centers , domestic abuse ..... Lol

Yep, sad story. The man had it by the tail, great power, KO-ing everyone, I was really pulling for him. Personal demons gotta be tough to conquer.

I know Kelly Pavlek, boxing might be my fav sport. Saw Jeff Lacy take a dive a couple of nights ago, sad.

Lacy didn't take a dive, he's a bum who lost his "Left Hook" back in 08 against Jermain Taylor, another washed up bum. Sadly, some guys don't know when it's time to quit in boxing and have to make a living. Another fight that night was Edison Miranda going the distance but getting both eyes closed in a loss that made him look like a gargoyle with no eyes. Boxing is a tough real sport.

Getting back on topic, only Keyav8r and Jim got the point of my original post: Sic: The freaking media glamorizing an insignificant event like some basketball player cashing into the highest bidder then distorting the "Going Home" tribute to our returning vets to theme this insignificant event. Sorry, it pissed me off, and I could care less what anyone's opinion is of professional sports is.

The thought of treating sports players better than our own military makes my blood boil everytime. Theres more everyday with this great country that I just wish was right. I'm guilty though of being "A Fan" Not with basketball 1 bit but NFL and Nascar so i can't say I'm 100% Innocent of not contributing to the problem...

Never cared for the ol' basketball thing. Have to agree with you; some of these clowns get more attention than they deserve, but unfortunately it's no one else's fault but the rabid fans who follow them.

Now if it were football, then it might be another story entirely.
