The Lost Mj

Years ago, 1987 to be exact, I ordered myself a new MJ for a demo. I got to do that a few times a year. Had 12 in all.

One in particular was an 87 4.0, auto trans, 4wd, 2 tome longbed. Maroon and silver.

It arrived at the dealership while I was on vacation and they sold it!!

Old guy and his wife had it. Then, it disappeared and they passed away.

Fast forward to 2014 and a guy who has a towing business, and used to work for me, called and told me about a real nice MJ that he towed for another friend of mine. Had been in a warehouse.

I contacted the guy who bought it and he said it was funny because it was maroon and silver and had paperwork in the glovebox with the original owner's name and one of my business cards.

Got to see it on it's maiden voyage the other day. He replaced the fuel tank and pump, exhaust manifold and a bunch of stuff. He's working on doing the Renix Tips right now. He's still debating as to whether he wants to keep it.

We're gonna hook up my DRB to it sometime soon and view the sensor activity.

Great story!

I don't know what I'm more jealous of,

that you ordered brand new MJs for work,

or that you got vacations ;)

No doubt, you should buy that MJ!

get it anyway Cruiser it was you who ordered it and if anyone should own it it should be you

FULL CIRCLE man FULL CIRCLE

X2!!

besides, you know that Comanches,

like all pack animals, should ONLY be owned in pairs (or more!)

Don't know yet. I was pretty much at his place to pick up a 90 XJ Laredo with a 5 speed for a parts Jeep. Snapped a few photos and drove the 90 home.

a 90 5 spd Cherokee Laredo,

that's pretty much the top of the Renix  Cherokee food chain imho

My first Jeep was an 87' 5 spd Laredo Cherokee,

so I'm partial to that combo :)

Color/options?

(just wondering)

Red with gray interior. Overhead console. Power locks and windows. Tow hooks. Rear seat shoulder harnesses.

nice set up,

my 87' was the opposite,

grey exterior with cloth & vinyl red (burgundy) interior.

w/ power windows and locks,

no hooks or overhead console though.

There's just something cool about luxury with a 5spd :)

Thanks, I was just curious,

those Renix XJs are a dying breed,

surprised any of them survived Cash for Clunkers.

Good luck with it,

I'm sure the parts from it will help keep other XJ and MJs on the road
