How To Lower The Front On My Mj Comanche

Recommended Posts

Ive heard ZJ rear coils will also lower if installed on the front If I'm remembering correctly. ZJ is first gen Grand Cherokee up through 1998.

That might be somewhere in the neighborhood of a 2-3" drop, if my math is right. At that point, you may need to tweak the steering a bit.

I wish I had seen this thread last week. I just chucked my stock, 26yo 2wd 2.5 coils. :-\ I would have just shipped them to you, OP.

What did you do to lower the rear?... blocks, I assume? Also... uh... that a piece of lawn edging being used as a front spoiler? :hmm:

I used autozone 2inch blocks n yea Home Depot diy lip lol. Could find anything else to make it with. Really wanted that red comanche race car lip but can't find it

I'd go the same route that so many VW guys go when making up a DIY spoiler use a spoiler or the plastic lower portion of a newer bumper. Maybe mid '90s Explorer or something similar. As for the real deal, unless you remove one from a SCCA truck there really isn't any other options. Might be one leftover floating around out there, but highly doubt that guy would be willing to give it up.  :peek:

I like the look of your truck. You should really put together a build thread.

Plenty of us VW/Jeep guys around here. I've got a couple aircooled, but I also helped my brother build his '87 Cabby VR6.

Stupid fun car!... anyhow, you should really put together a build thread.  :D

What a small world in cars we love lol I want a Vw pick up so bad. Btw to answer your question it's not much of a build I got going. Just got two major things I wanna do. Lower front and repaint it with primer green n black two tone n a rear tail hate wing n call it a day. Also patch up some rust spots but I'm a 23 year old and I don't kno jack s*^% about welding so I might fiber glass it

 Find someone who does.

Anyhow... back on topic, this is the route I'd go with. This topic comes up from time to time and this seems to be what comes up most.
