Well Done Stepside.

Just my lame opinion...but I have never liked ANY stepside. Limited space, Campers tops are too small or don't fit,  The new stepsides are super fugly.  They tried to make the lines smooth...but it just looks like poo.

A stepside bed is small anyway, making it smaller is, well...not MY cup of tea.

It's probably been narrowed two fit the Comanche better.

As for the comment about gas mileage, when it was still stock 5 years ago my 87 4.0 automatic got 24mpg on the highway any day as long as I kept the speed down to 60mph. IMO, for the age of the truck and the power of the engine that was pretty good.

Only stepside to ever look good IMO were the Gladiators.

What is with the bad mileage comment? My '91 4.0 auto got around 24 highway since I tried to keep it 60 or below as well. Considering the age and the fact that trucks only started increasing their mileage a few years ago, that's pretty good I think. As an example, the Colorado was still only getting around 24 highway back in 2005 with the 4cyl auto.

Never heard of any 4.0 getting above 18 highway aside from someones dads brothers best friends jeep.

I literally just got back to TN driving up from FL yesterday, with two grown individuals in the cab, a little over a 800 lbs in the bed and an idiotically tall topper (its a freakin sail) i got 17.2 mpg on the highway, driving 65mph. Completely empty, no topper, and one person in the cab i got 15 mpg spot on doing purely city driving.

87 with

95 H.O.

.030 bore

comp torquer cam

borla header

mustang 5.0 injectors

62mm tb

99+ intake shaved to fit with header

aw4

d30/d44 4.10 gears

33x10.50's

22mpg mixed, 24mpg highway.

18-19mpg city solid

with 35's I got 22mpg highway, 18-19 mixed, 16-17 city

that was my jeep, those are factual miles with odometer calibrated correctly.

When I pulled that motor and put it in the 99 2dr 5 speed d30/c8.25 3.07's and 245/70r16's I got a solid 19mpg city, 22-24 highest highway.

I was more than capable of getting 12mpg out of this combination if I drove like a jackass. stock renix was even better MPG. I suggest you guys spend some time learning the sweet spots of your motors, or make sure they run even better.

Consistent 21-22 MPG highway with the stroker @ 75MPH / 2700RPM, 4.10 & 31" tars. Better than the 18/19 highway pre-stroker. But it's de-balanced out by an abysmal 13/14 MPG around town, maybe 75% of my driving. Gotta fool with the FP regulator and Unichip again to find the best balance.....

 4.0 V6. If you're going to own a vehicle, is there any reason not to at the very least know what kind of engine is in it? Some people. Unless of course it has a Ford 4.0 stuck in it, but I strongly doubt it.

A stepside bed just doesn't look right on a Jeep, or any truck really.
