Legalizing Fat Betty

Recommended Posts

So I recently bought an 86 Comanche, which me and my friend quickly dubbed "Fat Betty" with the slogan of "She's a b*@$£"

She drives alright, needs a basic tune up, along with a few other thing to make it road legal in my province.

The brakes on it were all in great shape considering how the rest of it looks, the drums were a pain to get off though, had to coax em off with a hammer and pry bar. as well as unhooking the Ebrake.

I need to get a real jack...

ratcheting wrenches a awesome.

there in good shape yay, less money I need to spend on it :)

The front was less of a hassle other then three lugs which required this set up, I pretty much step all of my 150 pounds while pulling up on it, it got the job done as well as give my tire iron a good bending.

and lastly at least for today a pic of the interior and the entrance to one of many spider nest.

she needs some work, but its looking like a fun project :)

Next I intend to change all fluids next. and then trying to find and replace any leaky seals

I've slowly patching the holes in my truck, also recently found a donor for my truck, it a 1990 Cherokee for 350$ :) with 4l I6 what I think is a NP242 transfer case (the one with both full and part time 4x4) i think it has an aw4 auto but I don't want, so until it goes I don't care what it is, i"ll try to get some pics here later this week.

I pick up a D44 a while ago for My MJ. Today  I Final got around to clean/striping so I can weld the perches in the proper spot for the truck.

The 10mm was to big, and i don't own a set of imperial wrenches. so an angle grinder and a 9mm did the trick.

time for a break,  Ahhh the life

pretty much done now

that Cherokee seat is where I sit and admire my work  :)

(that's the donor XJ, no room for both the MJ and XJ, so the MJ sits at a rental property.

It's been a long time since I updated this, long time, I haven't done much to the truck, other than completely striping the donor XJ for this project, I did however just pick up a new part for it :)

A 1990 AX-15 :)  I paid 260$ for it, not bad considering it was pulled out of the vehicle and put in my truck without me having to turn a wrench. :)

yeah, I was looking at the pics and I was over looking at it today, I think it might actually be a 8.25, I saw it under the cherokee before they pulled it.

oh well, live and learn :)

so I've done a little work on my truck, mostly swapping steering parts to try and fix my DW (only things I can think of are swapping the tires for a set I know is balanced and getting an alignment.) (no pics :( )

but I also got around to swap\building the buckets for my jeep :).

so I started with hacking of the brackets from my bench seat.

then did the same to the cherokee ones no pics aging :(

then welded the brackets to the bottom of the bucket seat frame

then took it for a joyride since it legal now :D.... so that like part one of many done for this thing :D

poser shot

and my new background cause why not.

so I took my jeep for my first offroading trip of the year (and probably only :( ) snapped a few pics, nothing extreme cause I was alone.

found this in the bush, taugh it was funny.

one doesn't realize how sucky the 2.8 is till they try to offroad it.

well a lack of comanche hasn't quelled my lust of finding parts for it, today I picked up a chrysler 9 1/4" with 4.10 gears, LP dana 30 4.10 gears and adapter/spacers for the dana 30 to match the 5 5.5 bolt pattern of the axle. all for 100$ so i'm going to say good deal.

the 9 1/4 has perches set for a cherokee so i'll have to change those out, I have a set of D44 perches that I'm hoping will fit.

also tomorrow I will be picking up a MJ gas tank skid and fuel sending unit from another guy. I'll post the pics once I collected all the parts.
