That Jeep "thing" We All Love

So this is really more of a rant to those who understand. I love my MJ, had her for 17 months now. Today I finally got her licensed and insured. I should be much happier, but she is STILL fighting me tooth and nail every step of the way. First try to get an inspection, the intake cracked and drained all my coolant. Fixed the intake, fuel pump broke. Fixed the fuel pump, and now its overheating. Not really that big of a deal, but its constantly, fix one thing, 5 break. I know eventually it will even out and I'll have the coolest truck out there, but still, its discouraging. If i didnt have so much money and pride tied up in her, id consider an xj. But too much money, much more pride, and everytime i see that tailgate i can't help but buy it new things. So she'll stay, despite being held together with dried blood and tears.

Sorry for the rather pointless post. Just a rant to those who can understand and relate.

Me, I don't mind the money spent on my MJs, what I do mind is the cost of the one thing that money can't buy...time.

But when I get to wheel, and or just one person either looks at my truck or comments on it and I remember how much love I have in it...

priceless

Electrical bugs aren't that bad. Something doesn't work either means that thing is broken or else it's not getting power. They can be really irritating sometimes, but in my opinion with patience they're not really that bad.

If it's not one thing, it's another

Best statement right there. It always seems to need something you didnt expect. You plan on fixing one thing, buy the new parts, finally find time to tackle it, and sure enough, something else catches your eye that needs a fixing as well.

Or in my case, fix it, get it another step closer to driving, and something sets it back again. Hopefully not a big deal..but i am sensing a pattern here

This^

Whether it's worth the time and trouble or not is an individual opinion. When I pass some one while driving down the highway and I know they're reading the 'JEEP" on the tailgate, to me it's worth it.

and I wouldnt have it any other way!

You've gotta be tenacious. Don't let your Comanche kick your a$$.

won't happen, i got it on the road! Drove it to work for the first time today and now i couldnt be happier! Still needs work to make it more reliable...but it is road worthy now!

Atta way man, Lets hope it stays on the road long enough that you'll have some extra cash for the next time it breaks.

For me this hasnt been the case. My truck sat for 4 years before I got it. All I did was give it a tune up, and an O2 sensor, and it been running great ever since. Ive been doing upgrades along the way, and had a couple of small easy to fix things go wrong, but nothing huge. I'm lucky i guess, though my not quite daily driiving and short commute isnt too hard on it. I feel for some of you guys with all the rust issues and so forth. I'm thankfull every time I work on it that I don't have to deal with that. Keep up all the good work. We all know that these trucks are worth it!

I hope you haven't cursed yourself by stating it's running great. Seems like every time I get to thinking like that after driving around for months fat, dumb, confident, and happy, something jumps up and bites me where it hurts. MJs are like most women. If they sense you are taking them for granted they tend to do something dramatic to grab your full attention.

I've got nearly two grand into my MJ since I bought it in August... mostly fixing issues that regular maintenance on any of the POs' parts would have prevented. But then again, it does have near as makes no difference 300,000 miles onto it...
