Usually I like all of winter. Snow, ice, cold, etc. But now I'm seeing people starting to talk about spring... It's starting to get me down...

To put it into context, I took this picture last weekend.

And yes, those are ice fishing shacks on a lake.

We only made it to 60* today, tomorrow is forecast to be warmer. Gogmorgo, your ice fishing pic brought back a lot of good memories. I grew up in upstate VT on Lake Champlain and spend many winters ice fishing there. Actually learned how to drive on the ice in my grandfathers old Chevy. Good times catching the occasional humongous northern pike through the ice.

Where do you live? Wherever it is, I need to move there. I love winter, snow, etc.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. About 200 miles north of the Canadian/US border, and pretty well straight north from Casper, Wyoming.

Lake in question is Blackstrap Reservoir. So not technically a lake...

Just about anywhere on the Canadian prairies (and honestly the northern states adjacent) is like this still. Can't really speak for the rest of the country, but my guess is it'll still look pretty similar until April. After pushing through the snow we still keep getting on my walk to class, it's starting to get a little old... we've had snow on the ground since October...

It's about 15F here right now.

I have begun my slow transition to the southern states ie warmer weather.  Lived in NJ for 26.5 years and now I've been in MD for 1.5.  Next stop will be NC in a few more years.  That may be as far south as I go.  Don't mind the cold weather too much, just don't like working in it too much.  Not able to turn a wrench or grasp a bolt with gloves on...

I've found that those really thin gloves they sell for mechanics work fairly well even in the cold. It's just enough to keep your hands off the freezing tools. It is a pain in the @$$ though if one of them gets wet, because then you can't let go of the tool... or whatever other cold thing you grabbed...

What I really dislike is rolling around under the truck in snow. Packed snow, not so bad, but if there's a couple inches or more of loose or fluffy stuff, it just gets miserable.

I'd take the snow or sun over 40-50 and overcast. Looks like Montana, where I'll be headed in 2 weeks.

Don't know where you talkin about in Montana, today it was near 65* here in SE Montana Lame Deer/Colstrip.

Had the Harley out Yesterday, was even ridin in my T shirt....

Dedaw, where you going in MT? Going to be there Long?

Well, don't really have a back yard per se (live in an apartment building) but it depends where you measure it and where the wind puts it. I'd say pretty near three feet on average, but there are some natural drifts easily six feet deep if not more.

With the light fluffy snow we got (and are still getting...) I was pushing through natural drifts in my parking lot deeper than my hood when I was left this morning. It was either make passable the laneway that was reduced to four feet wide, or not get out. Hope anyone who followed me through appreciated the extra couple feet I made for them...
