RockMJ's 88' Resto-Mod Build Journal

Well I'd love to see what you produce I could be the first buyer. I'm not all that great with illustrator, photoshop yes, but not had the practice in AI. When you printed them did they show pixelation? I know vector printing should be crisper but again minimal experience. What kind of customization are you thinking just color schemes?

Not a problem man, I have a few people interested for sure. Ive been stupidly busy so I havent had much time to work on them. There was no distortion or pixelation with printing as I created them at a super high resolution so when it was compressed down to a normal print sheet it came out super clean. And when it comes to customization I can do basically anything you want. Colors, designs, etc. I just need to create the templates first and foremost and then were good to go

I just found your build thread

My computer is down and I am at work, so I will have to go back and look at more than the pictures ;) when I am back up and running.

This thing is a "Dream Machine!" Well done Rock - I can't wait to help with the next phase of the project.

I love the color, mines a funny copper orange, and I've been wondering how it would look with all the stupid chrome painted black, and you just showed me!

Your attention to detail is awesome, and quite inspiring! Thankfully...I have nice, clean, OE black interior

haha yeah thanks guys! I purchased some 97+ mirrors but I decided against them until I can actually get my hands on some OEM units. The replacement mirrors are really poorly constructed and the glass does not produce a good image. So until I find some OEM ones ill keep my old ones. They are constructed so much better

Rich, next phase is going to be getting the lift under her and upgrading to some 35's and building a rear 44 with gears, shafts, truss, etc. I would love the help man.

The gauge inlays I created in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. I took my gauge cluster out and after hours of measurements I finally created an accurate reproduction. It was a super big PITA though.

Yeah, I wish my interior wasnt thrashed when I bought it but its to be expected when its neglected for so long. I am very pleased with the interior overall and the paint is surprisingly durable!

Sorry about not answering the questions in order received, I'm tired lol

So I have a small update on the MJ. I finally purchased a 97+ antenna mast setup from a guy on JF. That is about all ive done to the MJ in the past weeks due to other priorities. Ive been working like a mad man on getting a few music tracks finished that I started and had not finished. If anyone is curious the link to my music page is in my sig. Its all electronic music with a mixture of deep chillstep/dubstep and progressive trance. Interesting stuff ive been told

Things I need to do to the MJ soon:

-Front brakelines

-Bleed brakes

Not much of an update, but I gave the MJ her first bath since the restoration. Of course, here are the pics. I just keep picturing it in my head with a 4" lift and 35's. Incredible

Been doing a bit of reading on the brake upgrades and being as my MJ hasnt been driven due to the brakes, its time to get it done. I'm going to pick up a new Brake Booster and Brake MC from Crown for a 99-04 WJ and ill source the lines from the salvage yard if possible. If not, ill just run new lines, cut, flare, and bend them properly. I plan on doing this very soon so I can finally start driving the MJ daily. Damn brakes. Here are the links to the stuff

Snoopin and poopin :rotf: funny looking dog! You know what they say after awhile the owners start to look like them hahah

If you're getting a new mc and booster might as well run new lines an bend em by hand so you don't ever have to do them again!

Hey, where I do my business aint none yo bizzness lol. Luckily for me, the MJ has zero rust on it so I really don't need to run new lines. I know, I hate myself too lol

Forgot to mention the recent 105 amp alternator upgrade, new serpentine belt, and new battery terminals and wires. Jeep runs much better now and with the AC on full blast the amp meter barely moves. I be happy

Seen you were selling on jeep forum? Whats going on?

Family is going to be growing so I need something bigger. I also plan to take a few bucks from the sale and put it into our music studio were building. My wife doesnt want me to sell it but ill be sticking with a Jeep either way. Looking for a nice, stock or slightly modified 97+ XJ or even a 5.9. Willing to trade if the vehicle is right as well. I appreciate the concern!

Thank you! I was going to have the steering wheel color matched to the toxic orange paint but I decided against it. I love the sleek mixture of silver and black on the interior. Makes me happy

Not much of an update on the MJ other than its up for sale on eBay and locally. Really crappy, but its time to part ways with the old girl. The listing is ending Wednesday of this week and the bidding is almost at my reserve so its looking like next weekend she will be at a new home. Here is a pic of how she is sitting today entertaining traffic with a For Sale sign. Ive gotten a surprising amount of calls and offers on the Jeep but I'm sticking to my guns and not letting her go for pennies
